Our times aren’t so different than when he wrote that. Where is our civil disobedience for the war in Iraq, where is the protest for a corrupt government? What has happen to the backbone of our youth? I guess this should be on the political page and maybe I'll post it there also. Isn't anyone else pissed? When will it end?

Isn't peace the better way? Can't we acheive it if we really try?

I'm just a non-believer trying to make things a little better..

It seems our youth are listening to the establishment. We do not want them to do this. Its not what we are about.

It takes effort on everyone's part to achieve peace. If one person with a little power feels they have a justifiable reason to go to war, it ruins everything. Peace on Earth is an impossibility. Just do what you can to make the people around you a little happier, and wait for Heaven.

Unfortunately, while the war in Iraq may not be popular, there is a huge difference between now and John Lennon's "anti-war" time.

1) The Army is all volunteer. Millitary service is not compulsory, therefore there is no feeling that we're sending the "unwilling" into harm's way.

2) While the attack on Iraq may have been based on faulty intelligence, a majority of Americans still feel we must finish the mission - we must stay until it is safe to leave.

3) Peace is only a realistic end if your enemy believes that it is also better for him. Faced with a fanatical enemy who wants us dead because we believe different from him, there can be no peace. I realize this may sound like a simplification, but you can't convince me that if we just retreat to "fortress America" and become uninvolved in the wold that we would be safe.

4) Everyone is pissed it seems - mostly at each other these days. And that's the problem - there is a relatively even divide in the political spectrum.

Well, I support the troops, and would never spit on them.

But us young people do need to make a stand for what we believe in. If us young people all voted the government would HAVE TO listen to what we want. Too bad everyone is too busy dancing to that damn booty shaking music to even stop and care or listen to music with an actual message, John Lennon wouldn't do good at this time, he isn't black and doesn't sing about sex and money constantly.

I say we youth should all vote and protest! Bring our troops back home to their mothers! Give us back our freedoms! Keep religion out of politics! And legalize marijuana!

How in the HELL sorry that is how I feel.........Can anyone spit, punch, and cuss those who fought in Vietnam

That was the most Embarrassing time in America if you ask me

If you do not agree with the war.........FINE

But the least any True American can do is SUPPORT our TROOPS through thick and thin

The backbone of our youth has been ripped out by the parents of this generation.

9 out of 10 Parents are "OVER protective" of their kids now-adays than underprotective. It's harmful to the growth and mind exansion of their kid's minds and personalities. The kids feel the need to have their parents holding their hands 24/7 when asked to do anything and the parents don't seem to want to let the children grow up without a crutch.

It's harmful and a shame.

It might not seem like my generation cares about the war, but in fact, this war and administration has been protested just about as much as Vietnam/Nixon. And to answer your question, yes I am pissed

if you like j-len so much, go say hi to yoko and do a stay-in-bed protest about the current situations on this planet.

this hippie, 60's bullsh*t is no longer relevant in 2006. people are sleeker and meaner and no amount of hashish will calm those evil, jaded creatures into peace.

I like your question and I definitely agree with you. There is no one like John Lennon, and I heard one person on TV saying, "We need John Lennon more than ever." Young people are too preoccupied with their ipods, laptops, and other gizmos that most of them don't care much about the "real" life anymore.

And if we do not take part in a war...which would be ideal...does that stop it from going on in other places and in other countries...does it stop it from eventually coming here...I don't know the answers...the ideal is no war....but how do we get there...your question does nothing to answer that....the world is small and we can not be in isolation....so how do we stop all wars

I admire that question, but until we stop voting the way we do, religion will have its way in politics.
