When theocracy breeds revolution? Organized religion has always been corrupted by power. Even if Christianity took over the government, who's to say it won't fall prey to obsession like the architects of the Crusades, the Inquisition. Why not just leave government alone and be pure? Aren't your children enough? Why do you have to control America?

Just ask around. There's plenty of people who want separation of church and state abolished.

So you don't share the same views as Christians. Does that mean that you want to control America?

America is open to all points of view, including those who happen to be Christian. That's what democracy is all about. If you would deny them their say, then you're the one with a control issue.

The great dilema since America was founded has been balancing the three values of freedom, order and equality. Obviously the people who want America to be theocracy value order over freedom and equality. We need all three things for our society to work, but we still haven't been able to agree on the balance. The people who value order over everything else have a hard time seeing the consequences of their narrow views.

Americans by and large don't want theocracy. Furthermore, you could have just as easily and accurately said that organizations have always been corrupted by power, not just organized religion. Lord Acton said that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely, and he was significantly more right than wrong on that score. That said, laws and customs will, when done properly, reflect the ideals and cultural values of the society in which they are used. Not only is this invariable, it can be good.

Average Americans do not want this, however the radical right wing-nut fundaMENTALs do. They want what all men in power want....more power. I'm afraid that it's already a big machine rolling along gaining momentum like some horrible juggernaut. As for revolution, well yes that will be a natural side effect, but like most people in power, they don't study history enough to believe that it will repeat its self and assume it will never happen to them.

When members of Congress object to allow military wiccans to practice their religion privately on base, then we already live in a theocracy. It's just not official.

When our pledge of allegiance added the "under God" then we live in a theocracy.

When we change our educational system to teach someone's religion due to demand (Creationism) of a certain religious group, then we live in a theocracy

We live in an unofficial theocracy and have for a while now.

Each law that promotes a religious ideal that has no secular benefit (such as restrictions against gay marriage, can't buy booze on Sunday, etc.), each religious monument placed in a public facility, each time "god" is inscibed in the public domain, we move that much closer to a theocracy.

Hitler did not simply show up one day and say "make me fuhrer". It was a gradual slide toward fascims over the course of about 20 years or so that led to his rise. The same is now happening in the US, but those causing it do not recognize they are causing it, because it happens one freedom at a time.

They hate Democracy and would gladly trade their freedoms for a restrictive government that forces their religion down the throats of all the people.

Do you even know what the word "theocracy" means???

No Christian that I know of wants the U.S. to become theocratic at all. We just want our ideas heard in the market place of ideas along with all other viewpoints...I certainly do not desire that America become anything like Iran or Saudi Arabia, but neither do I want the U.S. to become like Communist Russia under Joseph Stalin or North Korea under Kim Jung Il or China under Mao Zedong.
