Many religions see abortion as murder and life as starting from conception, including Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, Judaism and Sikhism. Why does the political left only attack Christians for being pro-life?

RW You are right about conception. I shouldn't have lumped it in there. However, in Jewish law, even a partial human life has infinite value.
In the Talmud there was a case of a building callapse on Shabbat. Because there may be the possibility of saving the life of a survivor, even a slim to no chance, restrictions of Shabbat are pushed aside, so that a rescue may be attempted. Just as a possibly dead person is considered a partial life, so is a fetus and it should therefor be protected.

SARA I was blown away by your assertion that scripture says that life doesn't happen until "the quickening". It turns out your wrong.
I looked up all the verses you listed and though some of them spoke of the "breath of life", others spoke only of breathing or the Holy Spirit. None of them said a word about life after "the quickening". I'm assuming you are talking about the moment the spirit enters the body, right? Adam's spirit was breathed into him directly by the Lord because he was never in a womb. Other than that story in scripture, I can't think of another example of physical life being bestowed on someone outside the womb.
In Psalm 139:13-14 we are told that God made us in our mother's wombs. that we are lovingly and fearfully made. That doesn't sound like a dead or incomplete thing awaiting life to me.
Did you actually look up any of those verses yourself or did you just list a bunch of verses with the word "breath" in them from a concordance

actually judaism does not see it as murder... under various specifications. and it does *NOT* whatsoever claim life starts at conception. and especially not personhood at conception.

Judaism has a very elaborate scale, defining the state of the "fruit" and how it relates to being aborted.

basically in short, first trimester its completely ok, second if you really want to, or theres a reason to, third if theres a real need, but preferably not.

if the mother's life is in danger its an OBLIGATION to abort the fetus, under jewish belief.

Judaism doesn't grant personhood until the fetus is born and viable.

edit:
actually essentially all laws, just about, are set aside for the preservation of life, that is why theres absolutely no question about aborting if it would save the mother's life (a preexisting life signifigantly outweigh's a potential life, and judaism does not believe in the concept of original sin, so no issue there)

you have a point on that arguement, but I think most basically see it as a POTENTIAL life, not a partial life, that it is not a human life YET.
I mean for a comparative basis... its more heinous for a pregnant woman to be murdered(assuming the fetus dies with her) than a non-pregnant woman. but its still signifigantly less-bad than murdering 2 non-pregnant people,

theres a verse in the OT that basically says 2 men can conspire, and a pregnant woman be beaten in such a way that she loses the "fruit" but if she survives, the fine is entirely up to the husband... basically this can very easily be intepereted as a legalization of abortion.

another point would be that saving a life in a building collapse, is signifignatly different from a pregnancy, in the case that the person who might be dead or dying... in the case that if they are still alive.... they DO and HAVE posessed personhood. where an unborn fetus has not yet attained that quality,

do you follow the reasoning I'm sayin here? I mean its still better NOT to abort, but it allows for it if theres a reason to.

Christian Bible says one is not alive till after the period of quickening.

The ultra-conservative Christian anti-abortion leaders are denying the Bible and claiming that Life begins at conception. Their claim has absolutely no biblical support.

Earthy physical form such as a human body and the non-physical form referred to as "spirit" or "breath of life."

Genesis 2:7
Job 33:4
John 3:13
Ezekiel 37:1-10
Ecclesiastes 11:5
First Corinthians 15:35-56
Ecclesiastes 12:7
Job 27:3
Rev. 11:11
James 2:26
John 6:63
Psalm 150:6
2Cr 3:6

Physicians, biologists, and other scientists agree that conception marks the beginning of the life of a human being - a being that is alive and is a member of the human species. There is overwhelming agreement on this point in countless medical, biological, and scientific writings.

Roe. V. Wade "the independent and actual existence of the child before birth, as a living being” is a matter of objective science. They deplored the “popular ignorance...that the fetus is not alive till after the period of quickening.” Doctors knew it during the 1800's and doctors know it today. Human life begins at conception.

a million. it isn't the factor of all of it. a million Corinthians 6:9-10 (see verse 11 to work out that Paul become no longer condemning them), and verses like it are no longer telling us we are condemned in any way, different than if we've been outdoors of Christ. this would not make homosexuality ok, yet neither is being human ok, because of fact in accordance to John 3:18 ALL are condemned already (except they believe interior the only God sent; the son; Jesus Christ, who provided the propitiation for sins AND the proper overall performance God could settle for as "ok"). so which you're saying sola scriptura, mean it then. NO perfection is going to delight God different than the perfection of Christ, which we are meant to believe Him for. otherwise we develop right into a faith + works believer. do no longer enable those others capture you into it! 2. i detect that the worldwide behaves because it has continually behaved. The church isn't the comparable because of fact the worldwide. we can not assume the worldwide to pass alongside with something the church needs. it quite is a faux church which tries to tension the worldwide into them. So shop it separate. no longer anybody is going to wish to be a Christian each of ways as much as the time Jesus returns. or perhaps then, after one thousand years, devil would be released and there will be a human beings popping out of the north who want to attempt to usurp Jesus. Human nature is to disclaim God.

As far as I know abortion is not mentioned in the bible or the doctrines of the other religions. I just wish people of all faiths would help the existing needy children all over the world, and keep their minds off of my uterus. Look at the hypocrisy of ignoring the needs of babies and children while focusing all of your religious and political attention on a woman's reproductive organs. Quit obsessing about my organs and spend your time helping kids.

You are quite right, but in the west the other religions have been keeping their yaps shut about political matters, we will deal with them after we are done with the Christers.

In the American context, its the Right-wing christians propelling the pro-life movement. They alos use their religious faith as much of the justification for their arguments. Its only natural that American Liberals respond against those right-wing christians, and not the quiet muslim or jew who privately despises abortion.
