how can it hurt u head if its going into ur stomach?

Because when you swallow something really cold it has to go down the throat. At a part of the throat, blood vessels and nerves are closer to the serface, as something really cold passes by them, it sends a message up to your brain. Which is how you get a brain freeze, it's just a reaction the brain gives to receiving the message from the nerves in the throat. It hurts your brain because it cools down the blood going to it, but only in the sudden bursts when you swallow something like ice-cream

When you eat or drink anything that is really cold and a lot of it, it can give you a head ach, (brain freeze) It shocks your system.

i personaly think that it's the nerves in the roof of your mouth, which are connected, as others have said, directly to your brain. It gets overloaded with the sub- freezing slush, and activates pain centers in your brain.

When hydrogen is oxidized it releases chloroform, which is what makes your "brain" think it's cold.

That would happen to me when I ate too much ice cream too fast. Of course, I was much younger then.
