How do we know the gender of "God" ? If "God" is a man, then how did he created Eva (the first woman)? If "God" is a woman, then how did she created Adam (the first man) ? I think "God" is man and woman at the same time. How do you tink about this?

Why would God have a need for a gender? God doesn't actually have sex, does It? That's what I've always thought was so ridiculous about this Old Testament God that was so unabashedly male. God doesn't have testicles or a penis. That's ludicrous. On the other hand, since there wasn't a Goddess mentioned in the Bible, this male God couldn't have been getting any (at least until Mary came along), and maybe that's why he was so cranky all through the Old Testament.

Or maybe all of this is just ridiculous, and God doesn't exist.

God is neither man nor woman so don't try to humanize Him. The other response was accurate - He is a Spirit. However, God did create man and woman in His image so there are traits of God that might be more associated with a man (strength, initiative) and other character traits that would be considered more feminine (compassion, love, kindness). It's interesting to note that God said, "Let US make man in OUR image." (see the Creation account in the book of Genesis in the Bible) God refers to Himself as plural - which supports the idea that God is God the Father, God the Son (Jesus) and God the Spirit.

God has no gender, he is incomparable to the creation. He is the Creator! The Arabic word Allah has no plural and no gender. This is the beauty! By translating into english, we have to use pronouns which is why "he" is used to refer to God.

The following verse is known as the "Verse of the Throne"

Qur'an says:

Allah! There is no god but He,-the Living, the Self-subsisting, Eternal. No slumber can seize Him nor sleep. His are all things in the heavens and on earth. Who is there can intercede in His presence except as He permitteth? He knoweth what (appeareth to His creatures as) before or after or behind them. Nor shall they compass aught of His knowledge except as He willeth. His Throne doth extend over the heavens and the earth, and He feeleth no fatigue in guarding and preserving them for He is the Most High, the Supreme (in glory). (2:255)

This also removes a big misconception that lots of people have about God being "everywhere". God is not a part of his creation, he is not entangled within the creation. He resides on his Throne above.

There is no god. God is a man-made concept.

white parrot the plurality of god in the bible refers to multiple gods could be two could be 2000, since a) most religions of the times were very polytheistic, very probable a whole pantheon of gods are in the dialog and b) it (genesis) is from the hebrew text so no son or spirit need apply, jews recognize the existence of other gods IE zues, apollo, thor, odin ET AL.
Also if you continue reading the bible the god of adam only created adam and eve people already existed on the planet since one of their sons (Cain?) was able to find a wife outside of the borders of eden after the expulsion.

God is a combination of 7 spirits & without gender. When the term "Father" is used, it is the same as saying "Mother Earth". The earth has no gender either but is said because it implies the giving birth to life. For God the Father is used because more focus is put on the raising/guidence of the children (rules set) they the actual creation itself.

God is a man. He created Adam in his image and Eve from Adams rib. It does not matter though as he is GOD. Also, if you read your bible you will find many other examples of GOD being a man not woman. He is above all understanding!

I believe that "God" is niether man or woman, but a spirit. A spirit is niether male or female. As to how he created man and woman, he spoke them into existance... at lest that is what the Bible and Torah say.

Hmm, I believe God is more than man or woman. We refer to God usually as a He, but God hasn't really revealed whether he likes/dislikes being called that.

I do know that the word "Sophia" means knowledge, refering to God's knowledge. It's a feminine word, even in the Hebrew.

For me, it's not really important whether we call God a "He" or "She", it's more important that we give God the praise He (or She, if you really want to) deserves.

I think God is genderful, neither male nor female, but a combination of the best of both. Not a physical being we'd recognize, but of spirit.

God is male - he is referred to in the masculine sense in the original Hebrew texts and is referred to as the "Father." God created Adam in his own image, then created Eve - and remember he is God, he can do anything, he doesn't need an instruction manual.
