I'd say it's pretty rude. A lot of people would be quite offended.

If your around close friends, in a social situation like at a restaurant, you shouldn't ... it would be very rude in a situation like that. Because why else would you be going out with your friends or family? To have some fun ... and obviously talk.

If your in the grocery store or something, or just getting gas for your car and you meet some friend, or a friend you haven't seen in a while and they start going on and on about this and that, then just listen for a minute or two, then (in a polite manner) when there is a break in the chatter, jump in and say you have to go or your on your way to an appointment (make it up if you have to), and while you say it start moving away to get the message across.

If it's a close friend or family member, and your at home or in the car or something you could do it in a joking matter, but don't say it in a serious tone as that may offend some people or hurt there feelings.

Hope this helps!

It isn't very offensive to me but to some people that might show some disrespect and I wouldn't be surprised if they feel hurt. Just to be on the safe side I cut them off by saying something like
"I'd love to listen more but I have something to do right now. See ya!" or something like that.
Maybe it would be okay to say something like that to a close friend that has a sense of humor. If someone else try to politely end the conversation. It's kind of immature.

Hmmm...yeah bad taste. On the other hand I can sympathize, I cannot take endless babble from anyone.

You're going to have to find a way to go somewhere & do other things if possible. Some people just can't shut up!

Leave the room if you can. All the blah blah stuff they might not catch, it's a bit subtle, say shut the *** up.

It depends on if you know that person well or not and what kind of relationship you have. If the person is basically a stranger, then yeah, it's not exactly polite.

I wouldn't do that to my mom or boss, but other than that I think you have a civic duty to keep people from hogging up all the talk time.

Yes. You should just yawn a lot and look around like you have somewhere else to be.

It depends on if you want to be a dick or not. Why would you start listening in the first place. Have the balls to say. I don't like hearing people talk so don't waste your time.
Or better yet, maybe you should get over yourself.
