It already has... when the president added "in god we trust" to our money and "under god" to the pledge, it fell apart. That has given the religious folk an edge in their argument. That president, btw, wasn't even a church-going man until he was RUNNING for president and he KNEW the country wouldn't elect a president who wasn't religious. Manipulation of faith at its finest.

Hmm, it's already started to fall apart. Let me explain:

The separation of church and state written up by the "Founding Fathers" was not something created to persecute religions. Rather, it was their way of making sure that the government does not create, push, or mess around with religions.

The problem today is that the government has repeatedly (and I mean that) been used to place strangleholds on certain religions. This is not only Christianity, but Islam and probably other religions, too. They've disallowed prayer in some places, and stress that religion has not place with our kids! They also promote Darwinism and at the sametime ridicule those of faith as "ignorant" or "backwards" in public schools.

Instead of choking down religions, the separation of church and state should allow equal representation of each religion (ofcourse, what then is equal?). This isn't an easy task, and I suspect the government will not make any attempt at it.

Such is life...

It's already fallen apart, just not publicly.Just look at Bush Seniors' first campaign. If it wasn't for Bush Jr,he would have never been elected.See at that time Bush Jr had been ''Born Again''so had all the Evangelists in his pocket. Now consider this,In Bush Seniors' first campaign he lost the Jews and Catholics popular vote but still won by a landslide cuz BushJr got the Christian Evangelists vote. That's why BushJr,or George W Bush as he's better known, got elected both times. The Right Wing Christians want him in the White House so they can have their Religious Beliefs pushed down the country's throat's in the form of Laws. It's scary, but true. That's why voting is so important.

You don't honestly believe they're separated do you? With "In God We Trust" printed on our money? Anyone raised brainwashed into a religion is taking the values of that religion with them wherever they go, even into politics and government. Their religion sways their ways of thinking towards what they believe, according to their religion, to be the right thing to do. There is no separation of church and state.

Your lifetime? At this rate, it'll fall apart within the decade.

I'm joking. Well, a little bit anyway.

I don't really know what you mean. There is supposed to be a separation of church and state. There is not though. I wish there was and hope that very very soon there will be. I think that it will happen.

It already has, but not to the extent that it could. Look at what the current President has done already that goes against everything this country was founded on.

Most likely, since you will probably live to see the Millennial Reign of Jesus Christ. That sort of answers your question.
