Excellent question!
First of all, I'd like to tell you that we are indeed Christian, because we believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. After all, the true name of our church is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Yes, we believe in freedom of religion. In fact, the first president of our church, Joseph Smith, wrote the following: "We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may."
On the question of separation of church and state, that issue is a little more complicated, because we do believe, for example, that after the Second Coming of Christ, Jesus Christ will reign personally as the King of the earth. At that time, there will basically be no separation of church and state. But as for the governments that we have today, Joseph Smith wrote this: "We believe that religion is instituted of God; and that men are amenable to him, and to him only, for the exercise of it, unless their religious opinions prompt them to infringe upon the rights and liberties of others; but we do not believe that human law has a right to interfere in prescribing rules of worship to bind the consciences of men, nor dictate forms for public or private devotion; that the civil magistrate should restrain crime, but never control conscience; should punish guilt, but never suppress the freedom of the soul." We are happy when governments give us the freedom to practice our religion the way we want.
And, in answer to your first question: there are many reasons, I believe, that our church membership is growing so fast. If I could sum it up, I would say that I think that the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints offers answers to some of life's most difficult problems and questions. When people live the principles taught by our church, they are happier and more peaceful. That's something worth living for, don't you think? I know that the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are true and I have found much peace and happiness in them.

Mormonism is not growing very quickly. They do have a very strong appeal to the male gender with their focus on sex and domination. And they are NOT a Christian religion - not by a long shot. They say they believe in Jesus and they use the same terms and language as Christians, but their Jesus was a product of God sleeping with Mary and their God or something very screwy like that. They also believe God was once a man and they think their men will someday be gods of their own planets. And they also think that they "earn" their status in heaven - or at least they earn what level they'll end up on. They do not understand the reality of an awesome, holy and all powerful God who was and is and is to come THE SAME. Most of their "secret" ceremonies are borrowed straight from the Masons and the whole religion cannot stand up under intellectual scrutiny, which is why they teach their people never to question their faith.

I believe in freedom of religion and separation of church and state. I also think that the mormon church is growing so fast because they tend to be very family oriented and involved with their people.
But - one needs to look very carefully at their doctrine before taking up with the Mormon church. Most of the average people in their pews do not know fully what the church teaches.

Ah, I believe Mormonism is growing quickly because of their very rigorous "mission work". To my knowledge, it is required of Mormons to spend two years of their life in mission work, either knocking on doors or going to some far away land. Don't underestimate the power of the door-to-door guy!
But, sadly, I think it's also because Mormons don't reveal that much about their religion. Even to their members, they don't explain too much until they've been members for a long enough period. This means anything distasteful is blissfully ignored for a convinient time.
Don't take my word for it, though. Ask people around you who are members of the "Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints" or read a book about Mormon History.

Who says it's growing fast? Sure, the mormon church says that, but they aren't exactly a reliable source on those sorts of statistics, now are they?
Since you apparently don't know, mormonism *is* a form of christianity. Why? Because mormons believe that jesus christ is their lord and savior. That's the definition of a christian.
They have different practices and beliefs than other forms of christianity, but they're just as christian as all the others.
I believe in both freedom of religion and separation of church and state.

They have some basic things that alot of people who are living in this crazy race conscious, self-center age desire and that is a community of people who support and care for each other. Who have a faith that says that someone else loved you so much that he took your sins upon himself and that there are still proactive things you need to still do to maintain and cleanse yourself of these things but God Loves you and you are forgiven.
It's not a quick way to forgiveness, you must go through steps and live a life of hope and charity and know that atonement waits for you if you choose to use your agency and accept it.
I believe people are yearning to be held accountable for their choices and they are yearning for community and the Mormon church provides that, at its most basic level.

Mormonism is not growing fast... where are you getting your "facts"?
I believe in freedom from religion and separation of church and state. The church should pay taxes, that is the only state intervention that I would welcome.

We offer people something that no other religion in the world can, ETERNAL FAMILIES. If you love your family so much, why would anyone settle for "til death due us part." The concept of being able to spend eternity with your beloved spouse is very attractive.
Plus we offer truths that no one else can.

Mormonism is growing fast because there aren't many of them (yes, yes, I know they number in the millions, but keep in mind Hindus, Christians, and Muslims number in the billons.)
It is simple demographics... large groups cannot grow as fast as small groups. It is as I've put it before... you can only say you're accelerating fast in car that does zero to sixty in five if you're in the earlier stages... closer to the zero mark. Once you hit your top speed, you can't expect that to continue in the same way.

I am not sure, maybe they don't believe in birth control, monogamy etc.....y'know, all the things that create more sheep. Any religion, not just Mormonism, only survive in numbers. There is power in numbers, but intelligent thought will always differentiate between stories and simply admitting 'I don't know' To admit that you don't know is one of the most honest things people can do. It feels good to say '?' than '!'
