Aren't these terms that relate to completely different things?
An overpass is part of an interstate system when a road crosses over the interstate via a bridge
A flyover is an aviation term that means.........you guessed it.......you fly over something

An overpass (In UK, most Commonwealth countries flyover) is a bridge, road, railway or similar structure that crosses over another road.
In North America, a flyover is a high-level overpass, built above main overpass lanes, or a bridge built over what had been an at-grade intersection. Traffic engineers usually refer to the latter as a grade separation.
A pedestrian overpass allows pedestrians safe crossing over busy roads without impacting traffic.

I always thought an overpass just goes up and directly over another road, like a straight bridge and a flyover is a highway-to-highway ramp that goes over both highways. BUT...
Stolen directly from wiki:

Well technically speaking there is no difference. What they call Overpass in US is called Flyover in UK and in most of the countries where british ruled.

I believe that an overpass has an entrance and/or exit to the freeway and a flyover has no connection to the freeway so there is no stop/go traffic on the bridge.

Overpass and underpass are grade separations between highways and railroads.
Overcrossing and undercrossing are grade separations between freeways and local streets.
(Grade separation means that the roads do not intersect like two streets but rather one goes over the other.)
Flyover is a type of freeway to freeway connector in which the connector ramp exits the freeway, goes over the same freeway, and connects to another freeway.

Overpass - a thing. A street or road that allows traffic over another - a bridge over same.
Flyover - an action. What a helicopter or airplane does to a specific area.
Geez! That isn't very technical, is it? An attempt, anyway.
