There are a lot of disputes over construction and design contracts. Being a lawyer and a civil engineer would give you the best knowledge on how to approach those issues. Also, many larger civil engineering companies have lawyers to deal with contracts, liabilities, etc, so with a background in civil engineering they would be very interested in you.

I don't know the name of the field, but there is a branch of law that deals with architecture, in such cases where someone is injured or killed by faulty construction of a building.
This is of course assuming you want to use both degrees. If not, you can be either a civil engineer, or a lawyer, or a circus clown if you want!

It simply depends on the interests of a person which field he should opt as a carrier. one my close friend who graduated in electronics engineering from a very very reputed engineering institute, went for the law degree after his graduation and now within a small period of five or so years, he is a highly reputed, highly paid & very very busy lawyer. Similarly there is lot of demand for Civil proffessionals these days all over the glob. good luck.

You might like to contact your local council (not sure of US equivalent). You could be a town planner/advisor in your local community.ie designing new communities/building projects, and advising on proposed local projects.
