I know that this :) is universally accepted as a smile. But what if you want to offer a hug? If there isn't one established yet then maybe we can create one here & now.

Yes you are right, but I always use (XOXO) on more personal messages to a loved one. I was thinking more like when youn want to send a more consoling or comforting hug.

I think everyone just goes *hug*. We should get one. Somewhere Yahoo has a list of how to make manually make the smileys. I think there is a symbol in there.

well, a traditional hug is usually paired with kisses (XOXO)

X being the hug
O being the kiss

or could be vice-versa.

I think a new hug symbol is a good idea.

What have you come up with?

We use {hug} since the { } looks like they are hugging the word.

as the above said, X's are kisses and O's are hugs, though that's kind of a thing of the past... my favorite thing is just *" "* for any action, such as *hugs* :)
