I'm still doing that amount of repetitions since I started doing the weights about five months ago.

Yes, depending on what your fitness goals are. Variation is the key to optimal fitness. Vary your exercises and repetition scheme weekly to acheive the best results. 12, 10, 8 reps are mostly for bodybuilding, 3-5 rep range for strength, 15-20 for muscular endurance.

If you're still doing it, then it's ok. Don't take people's weight lifting suggestions too seriously. Right now you're working out and getting healthier and you've found a routine that you like. That's good. Everyone out there thinks they know the best workout and they're all different. The best work out that you can do is one that you like enough to keep doing it. One exercise that I would avoid is squats. Everybody that I've ever known that got injured working out, got hurt while doing squats.

if you are wanting to get tone, do more reps at less weight, if you do low reps at more weight you will start to get bulked muscles, your muscles are probly used to the weight you are doing, so i would add a little more weight or do more reps that keeps your muscles long and tone..
