Nope that is an old folk lore. Ask your vet on the next visit.

No-definitely not true---I have a yellow lab mixed with husky and he has 1 brown and 1 blue eye and do not expect him to go blind in the blue eye. Why would they, blue is a pigment in the eye color just as is brown. Blindness in animal or human does not ome from the colorpigment in the eye but disease, injury to the eye, glaucoma and so forth. Even a cataract-lining growing over the eye-will not cause blindness-they just remove it-very simple technigue. Am glad you showed more brain-sense by questioning this than those who said it. If you really want to get expert opinion-call and ask the Veterinarian/,who would know better than the Specialist on dogs-the Vet.

We have been breeding Siberian Huskies for over 10 years and our oldest is 11 years old and has never had a sign of blindness. I have never even heard of that old myth. Some ppl think of some odd things some times but from my experience, your dog is going to be fine. All of my dogs and my newest pup is 6 months old and she is doing great. You are fine. Good Luck with the new pup!!!!

I had a Siberian Husky that had blue eyes that were so light they were almost white. He lived to be 8 years old with no signs whatsoever of blindness. He died of cancer 6 months ago ((sigh)). I haven't ever heard of this before and it never happened to mine, but I don't know if it's true or not for a fact.

My parents had a Siberian husky with blue eyes. I used to take him for a walk and he could see his friends about a mile before I started to see them.

Nope - definitely not true. The blue is just a colour in the same way as brown. Like in people. Sometimes called a wall eye (in horses). The actual eye is perfectly normal - no need to worry!!

Well as i child i always loved the movie Balto about the dog who saved the children by delivering vaccines so Balto would be a good name. This is genric but it always sounds sweet: Blue or Skye
