Ok..I just got my ears pierced (for the 2nd time) yesterday and the nurse told me to clean it with alcohol but how should I? E.g using a q-tip to wipe the area with alcohol or what??? Please Help!!!

P.S Some ppl mentioned using sea salt instead but I think I'd rather follow her instructions, what should i do?!

Alcohol is drying , I don't know if that would be best. Where did you get them done?
Claire's sells an ear care solution, look at the bottle and see what the main ingredient is and get some of that.

don't ever use alcohol on a piercing. it dries it out too much. I have 10 piercings and for the ears I use the ear care solution that a place like Claires or something gives you. other body piercings are a different story. but yes a mild saline(salt) solution can work well also. your local drugstore should have some. or you can make it

nono no! never ever use alchol on a piercing!!!

DO NOT USE RUBBING ALCOHOL, HYDROGEN PEROXIDE, NEOSPRIN to clean you piercing. yes that is in bold letters of my after care information package. i got got 2 cartilege piercings done yesterday (one on each ear!) please follw my instructions i give you! i have many piercing. 7 er piercings (3 cartilege and 4 lower ear lobes) and my navle done.! so i jonw what im talkign about! and this is what the professional piecer told me to do.

YES! sea salt soaks are wonderfaul for piercings!!!!! they relieve pain and speed up the healing process an dpulls out the lymps (white blood cells that re trying to heal your piercing) in order to do a sea salt soak on your ears. get a small bowl/ cup. fill it up part way with DISTILLED WATER ONLY, then add in a pinch of NON-IODIZED SEA SALT! not regular table salt! mix it all together and put it into the microwave until its warm! then grab 4 cotton balls (2 for each ear) may want to grab some more. and soak them up with the solution. place one on the back of the piercing and one on the frnt and have it soak for 10 to 15 minutes once a day!. so since it is on your ears you may want to go through a few coton balls during this process. after the 15 minutes are up. clean your piercing with regular distilled water so there is not salt residue left to irritate your piercing or make your skin itchy.

do these soaks! they are really amazing! in alliviating the pain. my ears are still burnign when i got it done yesterday and they are still really sore but when i do the sea salt soaks it feels sooooo good! =) also find a local piercing shop and buy some piercing solution from them. maybe at claires in the mall. but its better to go to a local shop and see what they recommend! stop the alcohol now!!!!! and do the sea salt soaks!

where did you get your ears done? at the mall? a doctors office? you said nurse so im not sure. did you get it done with a gun or a hollow needle? hopefully a needle because they are alot better than a gun (more sanitary, and guns just push the skin to the side and needle make a clean cut through taking out the skin) please do the sea salt soks so your ears dont get infecteds and go buy piercing solution! but do not use anythign that i l;isted in bold above (rubbing alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, or neosporin, also bactine) I was issued to go and buy bactine from they i got my first cartilege piercing at a different shop and the new shop i go to says it isnt goog for piercings so keep away from all of that!!!!!

good luck =)

well i just read some more of your question lucky you live in the carribean! =) go to your local shop and see what they have.

earlobe piercings take up to 6 weeks to heal. for about 2 months, then you can change your earrings to whatever you want. so you will need to keep them in for over a month =)

I don't know it I would use alcohol, it will dry out the skin. Goto some place like Clares and buy the aftercare stuff, it works really good. Sea salt is also good, but i think it feels awkard because of how you use it.

A natural antibiotic to use to keep it from getting infected is honey. It will also speed the healing and it wont dry it out. Honey draws moisture. If u don't want to be sticky, you could always use neosporin or triple antibiotic. Honey has antibacterial properties due to its acidic nature and enzymically produced hydrogen peroxide.

It heals wounds.

Helps in quick healing of deep wounds.

Initiates growth of healthy granulation tissue.
