I have tried everything to belive in christanity. I feel like I have absolutly no power in changing what I think. I can not belive the bible stories and many of its teaching. I have prayed to god many many times and asked for help changing the way I think or to speak aloud to me. I want to believe with every ounce of my soul. If there is a god I feel like he does not want anything to do with me. I have tried to belive for years now and I just dont know what to do anymore.

Consider Islam. Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world. look into it:

In Islam:
- God is 1 (Prefect with No human attributes)
- God is the Most Merciful
- A complete way of life
- We believe in all the prophets including Adam, Noah, Jesus, Moses, Muhammad (Peace be Upon them All)
to name a few.
- The Quran has a whole chapter on Mary honoring her
- Once you become a Muslim, all your sins are forgiven
- Islam gave women rights they cant even imagine
- Islam is not named after anyone but means submission
to the One True God.
- Islam proves science (see islamguide.com)
- Tolerance of other religions
- In Islam, there is equality
- The Quran is the final revelation from God, preserved since it was revealed. This is the biggest miracle of all.

Real happiness and peace can be found in submitting to the commands of the Creator and the Sustainer of this world. God has said in the Quran:

'Truly, in remembering God do hearts find rest. (Quran, 13:28)

On the other hand, the one who turns away from the Quran will have a life of hardship in this world. God has said:

'But whoever turns away from the Quran,he will have a hard life, and We will raise him up blind on the Day of Judgment. ' (Quran, 20:124)

This may explain why some people commit suicide while they enjoy the material comfort money can buy. For example, look at Cat Stevens (now Yusuf Islam), formerly a famous pop singer who used to earn sometimes more than $150,000 a night. After he converted to Islam, he found true happiness and peace, which he had not found in material success.

Hope his helps...Wishing you the best !

In peace....

You are right. You don't have the power to change yourself. Only God can do that. Have you confessed your sins?
Asked God for forgiveness of your sins? Asked to be filled with the Holy Spirit. It's the Holy Spirit that helps us believe. Read Romans 10:9-10. Then ask God to help your unbelief. Don't give up. That's exactly what the devil wants you to do. Don't give in. May God keep you, save you and enlighten you through the Holy Spirit. Keep praying brother!

It's ok not to believe in christianity. It's ok not to believe the bible stories. Why do you stress yourself over and put so much energy into this when the best gift you can give to yourself and the people around you is living life to the fullest- cherishing what you have, enjoying each life experience, give love to yourself and others. The most important thing is not whether there is God or not, or whether the bible stories are believable or not. The most important thing in life is being able to learn not only to love oneself but others as well.

Hi Chris. Have a grandson with your name.

I think you must believe in some kind of God or you wouldn't have stayed with it so long.

You are searching in a very dark time. A time when God is withdrawing His spirit and his blessings from America and the gentiles; and turning His grace to the children of those who first had the law, the prophets and the oricals of God.

God does present some things to your mind and He does speak aloud. He also speaks by angelic messenger, by other people and through circumstance, through nature and more! But mostly He speaks from His heart to your heart through the Bible.

You have done two of the three things needed to make a promised contact. Let's go back to square one. Heb. 11:6. "....for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

You have postulated the possibility that there is a God. (That is belief and that is all there is to belief). You tell me that you have made some diligent attempts to seek him. Repeated effort is diligence. What is left is the need for you to Really Believe that God will Reward your efforts.

Please consider this answer as the beginning of your reward.

The first thing you need to do is address all your prayers to the Lord Jesus Christ and make any prayer in His name. When you don't do this you can be praying to a spirit in your room, church or building that you really don't want to hear from. Some of these spirits, and people associated with them, can lead you in mental circles for the remainder of your natural life.

You should cease your interests in the occult.

The name of Jesus alone has power. There are a lot of people named Jesus, a lot of people and churches that claim the name of Christ and tons of Lords among the world religions. Unless you are Jewish, God deals with you and all other gentiles on a one to one basis.

It all boils down Chris to you and the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the way, the truth and the life. His life is the reward and the contact you must seek. Every verse in the Bible in some way is about Jesus the Christ. The Bible is God's letter to you and me about Jesus and what Jesus is doing today.

The mind is a spiritual battle ground. When it comes to the Bible pick out what you can believe and go for that. To begin with avoid the million and one questions such as how all the animals got on the ark? and where did Cain get his wife? and how many angels will fit on the head of a pin? In the long run you will find that most big conflicts in Scripture come from someone putting their own interpretation on it or misreading what is written.

Don't feeI bad about having problems with the Scripture. I have had as many or more than you have had. Over time I have gotten most of the answers I really needed.

In time, with Jesus, your mind becomes more and more a switching station between the Holy Spirit (Jesus) and the spiritual understanding of your heart. God makes use of the Bible to verify your contact with Jesus. This contact verification is the primary purpose of Scripture. Any person that detracts from this, any religion that claims to be verification, any spirit that runs counter to it is anit-Christ.

I recommend two books for you. The first is called "The Normal Christian Life" by Watchman Nee. The second is "The Imitation of Christ" by Tommy (just kidding) Thomas A'Kempis.

If you need somebody to bounce a problem on (just listen) or need a kind word. I'm usually on line twice a day.

Oh, almost forgot about hell. There are three levels of hell. The abode of the dead, the abode of evil spirits (evil angels) and finally the hell prepared by God for the devil and his angels. Sorry no purgatory; a money making superstition of Roman high clergy.
The only way to make heaven is to have the life of Christ. The life of Christ is eternal. If you do not have eternal life how are you going to survive in an eternal hell? Will post this.

Chris? you just looking for attention or what? how many of these appeals to Christianity are you going to post? if you don't believe in the Christian myths what's the big deal? have the Christians scared you so badly that you really believe that you'll be tortured forever if you don't believe as they do?

well ... don't be such an easily led dunderhead. think for yourself. if there is a supreme being and he/she/it isn't pointing you towards Christianity maybe you should quest in a different direction ... like inwardly ... into you own consciousness. "God" can not be described or contained within the the pages of a book and no one NO ONE can truly tell you what "God" is to you. "God" is a wholly (holy?) personal experience. allow "God" to create a concept in you for you instead of getting herded like a frightened sheep into the corral of religion.

Some of the greatest Saints believed without any consolation at all. People think that Mother Theresa must have had actual conversations with God to have so much Faith but, these great Saints decided to let their Faith be their gift to God, It didn't matter to them they received nothing in return they just loved God and did what he wanted their entire life and at the end of each Saints life they were so peacefully blessed with such visions and Jesus himself came to usher them home saying "Well done my good and faithfull servants"

What don't you believe? Do you reject the idea that the world is 6,000 years old or the idea that Christ is the son of God? There's a difference between the two.

What you're doing isn't a bad thing at all. Your mind is refusing to accept what's written in that book because it doesn't agree with your common sense. Instead of mindlessly accepting every word, that free-thinking part of you is calling out. That's not a bad thing; in fact, it's a great thing.

Well, if you're trying to reach God, and praying, and are well-intentioned, and nothing's happening, shouldn't that tell you something? Either:

A) God doesn't want to have anything to do with you, which makes no sense because if we're taught to believe that God is love and all of that, then this would make God prejudicial and fickle, which would make him sound a lot like people.

or B) God isn't there.

What you do is you believe in Jesus Christ as your Lord and savior. The bible says "if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved".

What is this "trying" to believe? You either do or you don't. Be honest with yourself. God will not turn away any heart that truly wishes to repent and know Him.

You're contradicting yourself; you are saying you can't believe the bible stories; well if you do not believe in the bible, then you do not believe in God or Jesus. If you truly want to
change and go to heaven you have to ask Jesus Christ to come into your heart .
Prayer:
Dear Jesus Christ, I acknowledge that I'm a sinner and I believe you died on the cross for my sins.
I now confess you as my Lord and Savior. Wash away my sins with your blood. Save me now and accept me as yours. Thank you Jesus for saving me. I know believe that when I deport this sinful world; I shall reign with you in eternity Amen.
that is all. I will pray for you.
