There is no cell phone on the face of the earth that takes a picture worth anything more than a one by one inch picture period! If you have not gotten the point by now you need to buy a separate camera! The worst digital camera on the face of the earth is better than the best cell phone!

The cell phone camera is free under some programs with some providers! So you could have both, but in no way could a cell phone camera substitute for a separate camera!

Just does not have the resolution!

Hope I have Helped!

most digital cameras on cell phones are low res and have poor photo quality...therefore, I suggest getting a separate digital camera. However, I still would get a cell phone with a digital camera as a back up (You probably won't always have the camera with you, but I'll bet that you take the phone everywhere).

Most phones available in the US right now take pretty lousy pictures, that is, if you want to do anything more than post your pictures on the web, such as printing them. Some phones have come up to 1MP in quality, which is pretty good for viewing on the computer, but that's about it.
I would stick with a separate phone and camera for now, since a lot of phones are free, and you can get a good digital point-and-shoot for about $200.
Unless, of course, you live in Korea (South!) You can get he new Samsung phone with a built-in 8MP camera and only have to carry around one electronic device.

On a cell phone, the features are limited for taking pictures i.e. zoom capability, black and white photos, storage space. A cell phone is used for talking. If you want to seriously use a cell phone to take pictures at a party or some special occasion, you can go ahead and use it and save money. But I suggest you get both.

well, some of what has been said previously is true: image quality on 'camera phones' is not (and never will be) as good as picture quality on a camera. however, depending on what you are using your picutre for (if it's standard size printing) then you shouldn't worry about picture quality on your cell phone. now, of course, a 1mp camera on your phone isn't worht your money. sonyericsson, samsung and nokia have all got 'camera phones' that really do have good resulution (sonyericsson has a 3.2 mp camera phon, samsung have a 3.2mp cameraphone as well and nokia have a 5mp cameraphone). i don't live in the states, so i wouldn't be able to tell you if you can buy these phones over there. as well, i don't think the nokia phone is even available yet (i saw it at the 'photokina' camera show, the largest imaging show on earth...). the sonyericsson even has autofocus...what more can you ask for? they all have flashes as well. one thing, these cameraphones arn't cheap price wise. another thing to consider ist he price of a minisd card/memory stick pro duo, ... compared to a regular size sd card, compact flash card, ... (in any case, when you buy the camera, a memory card should be provided -- just keep in mind that since the are smaller, thier price is 'bigger').

If you take alot of pictures then get both because the picture quailty on the camera phones are poor compared to a digital camera.

Although having one thing is easier to keep track of, I reccommend you go with getting them separate. This is mostly because cell phone photos don't have that great of quality or very many options. I don't think they have a flash either, which is often necessary.

if you want good pictures, i'd vote for the camera separate from the cell. if you don't care as much about pic quality, go for the two-in-one. good luck!
