First of all, we got exactly what we asked for with North Korea. When Clinton was in office, we were setting up an agreement with Kim Jong Il to install low power nuclear setups for electricity. Because Bush is such a loser, he decided to do absolutely nothing with any deal that Clinton made. Had we been in control of this situation by being the supplier and the supervisor of North Korea's advance into fission, we may have had a bit more say in all of this.

Remember too, that when Kim Jong Il was threatening to go nuclear, all he wanted, was a meeting with Bush to end the stand off. Bush refused. If we do get nuked, I hope they aim it right to take Bush out on the first blow.

3, not very worried at all. It is going to happen if DPRK (North Korea) continues to exist in it's same form. They HAVE been selling everything they can manufacture, to legitimate countries as well as rogue nations and warlords, as a proxy for the Chinese.

The only reason I have for concern is that it will escalate wars everywhere, detracting from peaceable construction and development.

Never underestimate what the USA has in terms of defense capacities and technologies. The primary tangible export of the USA is military materiel. Increased global hostilities, on a higher technological scale, will benefit the USA, because they really do have the best military equipment. Russia was second best, but at the present, China may have a slight technological edge over Russia. Russia still has the quantity to deter China. India has the technological advantage over all but the United States.

China has been notorious for years for stealing technology and pirating and proliferating weapons. They have recently begun to outsource some of this production and distribution to DPRK, to divert attention from their own actions. Almost all of the Chinese technology was pirated from the French until recently. Both the French and the USA know how to counter their own technology.

No matter which country you are from, there is a bullseye on your back. If you live in India, the Bullseyes come from Pakistan, China, and several other states. If you live in the USA, many foreign politicians will blame USA on their problems, rather than try to fix their own internal problems. If you live in Russia, you know that the Chinese have you in their sites. If you live in Saudi Arabia, you know that many governments would like to depose the Royal family and change it to a theological state. If you live in Israel, you don't even have to ask this question.

If DPRK actually does something really stupid, they will be Chinese after most of their military men have died. Notice the male/female ratio of the marriageable people in China, and realize that unless they either embrace polyandry or homosexuality, there are many seually frustrated young men living in China. Japan will not be happy with this situation, but have already announced their intent to rapidly increase their own national defense. Taiwan is the primary country that needs to worry. You can also expect to learn just how powerful the Indian military forces are.

PS in re Ri: Bush could NOT have met with Kim, because USA is bound to the six party talks. All five other members have a greater interest in DPRK than USA has. China and Russia would have viewed a private meeting as an act of aggression. There is no telling what Kim would have claimed Bush told him in private. DPRK has not been recognized by the USA in over 50 years. The Korean War is under a UN ceasefire.

In the near term, a 4. In the next 5-10 years, an 8.

China is the absolute key to this issue, but is reticent to act harshly on this troublesome neighbor. This is a clear example of a nation not acting in its self interest, but rather letting its disdain for the US cloud it usually crystal clear vision. Don't be fooled, the single largest threat to the US in the next 50 years is China, but the near term, the world-wide threat of nuclear proliferation from North Korea due to China's inaction is serious.

I'm pretty scared. NKorea's soul purpose is not so much to FUBAR the entire world, but to destabilize it. NKorea's been leading a dreaded little existence, if they have to live that way, why shouldn't the rest of us, is most likely his argument. Every time Kim Jong Il is in need of more freebies from the rest of the world, he does something stupid to call attention to himself. He's been living on shipments of aid for how long now? Most of it coming from South Korea-- the neigbor who according to him, live in complete squalor. He also got a ton of aid from Japan, but with the new Japanese Prime Minister screamng 'no soup for you!', all shipments of aid have ceased.

We have to keep in mind as well, that Kim Jong Il demands a lot of respect (little man syndrom), obviously felt shut out with Ahmadinijad and that nutter from Venezuela, stealing his thunder the past month or so.

i'm about a 2. there is no reason to worry it; if this is gonna hit you this is gonna hit you. Panic in difficulty-free words makes the problem worse. If a dozen situations all of unexpected damage out on the Gulf Coast, then i'd be heading to Walgreens for some face mask, yet until eventually then, i am going to easily wash my hands properly and sneeze into my elbow, like i have continually carried out.
