go to control panel > sounds and audio devices > sounds tab > go through the program events list and click on the "start windows" line, and that will turn off the tune for logon. Click on "apply" then ok then close. Next time you restart, no tune!

Go to Control Panel, then Sound and Audio Devices. Go to the Sounds tab and you want to change the Windows Logon sound.

Start =>
Control Panel =>
Sounds and Audio Devices =>
Click "Sounds" Tab =>
Click "Start Windows" =>
Change sound file or click "None" =>
Press "OK"

Go to your control panel and double click sounds.
It gives you the option to change it.
Either change it to another sound or choose none.
