How God Reveals Himself
Romans 1:18-21
Look at the delicate veins of an oak leaf, and you see God’s beauty. Observe the storm-whipped surf beating against a beach, and you witness His power. The Lord’s sense of order is revealed in the march of the seasons and the precise tilt and turning of the earth. People need to look no farther than nature to understand that God is real.
The book of Romans tells us the Lord’s revelation in nature renders inexcusable those who would deny His existence. There’s no reasonable explanation for the creation of the material universe other than an omnipotent God putting it all together. The matter and fuel for a “big bang” had to come from Someone.
But nature can’t give us a full revelation. Creation does not show the Lord’s holiness or eternity. That’s why He gave us His Word. The Bible reveals God’s character, records His laws, and explains His expectations for the faithful. In its pages, we can learn about our Father and the kind of life He wants us to lead. 2 Timothy 3:16 tells us, “All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness.”
Scripture teaches about the living Word — Jesus — who is the full revelation of God. Our heavenly Father wanted to ensure that humanity could know Him intimately. So, He sent His Son, clothed in flesh, to make Himself known. Jesus said, “If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; from now on you know Him, and have seen Him.” (John 14:7). Spend time in Bible Study and prayer to know your Father better.

Nope. You are not forsaken...
Becoming a Christian might seem like a daunting task, but it's not. Like a young child, start out taking baby steps. You will gain experience and knowledge as you get your balance in your life.
Start reading through the Gospel of John. Tradition has it that John was the youngest Apostle and had a close relationship with Jesus. It's an account of Jesus' life from a very loving point of view.
Find a good Bbile Teaching church. Go a couple times each week and allow your spirit to be fed the things you need to grow as a new Christian. (The church may even offer a "New Believers' Study.)
Start with Baby steps. The stories in the Bible will fall into place and proper perspective.
Blessings.

Chris I am probably a lot older and have been wrestling with this stuff all my life. We know scientifically their was evolution. If Noah got all those critters on board Mrs Noah would have left him for permitting the snake, the cockroach, the mosquito and all things that slither onboard. Daniel could not have hung in a lions den and Jonah in a whale. Religion and land are the two main reasons we go to war. I want to think there is something else; but you know besides not really believing in anything I am a good decent person.

No you're not doomed or forsaken. Many people have a hard time with believing. (I have gone through the same problem as you are having now)
Ask God to reveal Himself to you in a way that would help your faith. Don't give up on prayer and church. Read your Bible and ask the Holy Spirit to help you understand. If you really are seeking God He will help you. I'll pray for you.

If you are still living you are not doomed. It is only by God's grace that you are alive right now so He must have something in store for you yet!
I would suggest that you continue to pray and read your Bible because the enemy obviously wants to keep you from having a true relationship with the Lord because he keeps making you feel you can't agree with the Bible.
Don't stop praying, I am reminded of the persistent widow parable who kept going to the king for revenge or something against her adversaries, and the king who gave her what she wanted because of her persistence. So God will answer you if you believe He will. The resurrected Jesus had to tell Thomas to "stop doubting and believe".

You say you do not believe - but some small part of you must, or you wouldn't care, you wouldn't pray, or have tried what you have tried.
Find a church where you are comfortable, attend, listen, don't try so hard. Relax and don't try to soak up all of Christianity in one fell swoop. Get a Bible that is written in easy to understand language, like the NIV. Read just a short passage every day, don't try to dissect it, or even understand it yet, just read it. Maybe Just one small paragraph a day.
You are putting too much pressure on yourself in your search, relax, be open, don't get discouraged. When you go to a church service, note what you like, what you don't like....but relax. You have all the seeds planted, it is just going to take time and for you to stop worrying about it and keep praying, simple prayers asking God to open your mind. it will happen!
I have seen God do miraculous things - he hasn't forsaken you.

I'm an atheist, but I wanted to remind you of a scripture that I love....(paraphrased)Seek and ye shall find, knock and the door shall open.
If this is what you want, keep at it. Ask the minister...if you don't get the answer you want, ask a different minister. Try a Unitarian church...they believe in the search for truth and personal spirituality and are amazing ppl who have touched my life in so many ways. Good luck.

No, you haven't been forsaken. If you're serious. I felt the same way for a long time. You might try what I did.
Put the Bible away for a while. Then just tell God how you feel and ask him to show you what He wants you to do. If you're serious, He will answer you. And trust me, when it's Him, you'll know it.

No your not being forsaken.
But the Bible is God's word.
So that's a major part in being a Christian.
For some reason, God is wanting you to search more than you have been searching.
And he wants you to look deeper in the Bible.
Try praying before you read your Bible. Ask God to show you want he wants you to read.
Then just open your Bible. Don't pick what you want to read, just open it up and read.
It seems like you are still trying to have control over alot of aspects in your life. You can't try to have control over your life and let God have control over it to.
You need to pray a prayer where you give everything in your life to him. Your future, your money, the choosing of your husband/wife...
Give the aspects of your life to him.
Your like a dog that wants to just pull, pull, pull on the leash. Instead of letting God lead you where it is right for you to go.
Also, you are saying that you want to believe.
You must believe. You must seek out the truth so you know.
Without a doubt.
Ask him to show you things. And ask him to tell you when he is showing you.
So you know he is there.
Tell him, you are not asking for him to prove himself to you. Because you don't test your Creator.
But ask him to do things, just like a parent would, to comfort you and guide you. So you know that your Father is there.
And keep your faith, don't quit. Continue to read your Bible and pray!!
These are the most important parts. This is how you learn from God and how you talk to him and how you tune yourself to hear when he speaks to you.
Ask him to open your ears and your mind to his voice.
And be patient.
God Bless You!
And know He is doing this because he wants you to search even harder. For yourself and for the truth.

your not doomed, your on a journey. Keep searching and don't give up. The key is to "let go, and let God." If you hold onto something you don't really want to give away, God won't take it from you, because he gave us freewill. You probably have a stubborn will, like i did and still struggle with, but I knew when i really gave my will over to God, because my life got so much better, and I actually felt free for the first time in my life.
