How about a membership at a dance studio or a gym or YWCA or a local Community College that teaches Yoga instruction? You can buy her a package of classes or instruction!

Then she would have fun meeting new people and doing what she likes to do...even better, have her bring a friend that does the same things so they can hang out together and meet others as well.

For my mom's 50th I wrote a poem about everything I appreciate her for and the major things that she had done in my life- then I printed it on special paper with a light blue-ish background on it with some soft clouds. Then I bought some white down feathers and framed it in a shadow box so the feathers settled on the bottom of the frame. It turned out beautiful and she loved it!

Pay for some ballroom or some type of dance lessons and then for a supper club where that type of dancing is.If you cannot afford the meal, you can do hor'dorves and a drink or two and then prepare a nice and easy meal at home for the whole family with cake. How nice of you to think of her and want to please her so much.My kids usually call or send a card but I am happy that they are close and I get to see them and have relationships with them and their kids! Best wishes and have a great time with your mom!

I have given mom and dad gift baskets. They include a card, fresh fruit, cracker and cheese, microwave popcorn and a dvd movie.

I use my local Dillions grocery store. In the floral area = I order the basket of fruit, sometimes with a plant, flowers or a balloon attached.

Our parents are diabetics and they love that they can get a gift that they can enjoy eatting and things that they enjoy. They have always though it was thoughful. (They live 3 hours away, but Dillions calls the order over to one of their other stores there, and they deliver.)

Tickets to see a musician of her liking. I don't know how close you are to your Mother but I was to mine and the thing she liked the very most from me included me and her together. You could take her out, just the two of you. Dine then go to a concert together. It would be the greatest gift because you would have the cherished memory spent with your Momma on her fiftith birthday and she would have that special time with her child.
Sending beautiful flowers to their work is nice too. They like to have the co-workers see how thoughtful their child is to them.

A day at a holistic spa sounds wonderful. Bake her a cake, don't buy it, even if it turns out kinda crappy she'll love the fact that you put effort into it. Then tell her she doesn't look a day over 30, and you will have the happiest mom on earth.

I am 50 and the best gift you could give is a gift from your heart. Go to the mall to one of those photo places and have photos taken. Frame the best one. This would be the best gift my children could ever give me.
