My mom would cry once in a blue moon. She made a great life for herself when she was a young woman (having come from a very sad home when she was a child), only to marry my father who is such a wonderful man, but his sisters were f*ckin' a$$holes who treated mom like trash. It always breaks my heart just thinking about it, but my mom's so strong and so forgiving. Though, I've cut all ties to my dad's side of the family.

I remember my mom crying when she turned 40! She cried all day and me being little couldn't understand why her birthday would make her sad. I'm 10 years away from 40 and when I turned 30, that was emotional for me. So I understand a little what she went through.

I remember seeing my mom cry. It always made me want to fix the problem, I wanted to do something to help her, to make her stop crying.
I was the peacemaker in my family because of these feelings... now I still play the peacemaker role. I want to make everyone happy all the time, I realize its not possible.
Anyway, that's how watching my mom crying has affected my life.

I remember the first time I saw my Dad cry...it was at his Mother's funeral and I guess it really did impact me since I still remember it vividly. I was only about 5 ys at the time and my Dad was this big, manly 6'2" drill sargeant. I had never seen him cry before. He always taught me to take care of my Mom no matter what. I guess that was his lesson passed down to me.

I'm 4 years old and my mom is crying, I go to her and ask, mom are you ok. She says go away so I tell my sister who is 6 to come help. We both go back in the bathroom where she's sitting in the floor crying. We don't know why. We try and cuddle her and she still crying. Then she screams at us to get out and tells us that she's going to kill herself. She closed the door on us and we begged and cried outside that door for her to come out and stay with us. OH YES IT AFFECTED ME

I think they did, but I don't remember it being an issue in my life. I do remember one day my mum was so angry she got out of the car and started walking. She didn't come back for a while. That scared me.
