I have a 2.5 years old male(neutered) pekingese. Recently my dog started to chase and bite my mother every time i come home from outside. Anybody know what might be the cause of this?

He is protecting you or jealous of her. You must stop this conduct, and she must show him she is not afraid. This does not mean you physically abuse the dog. See a behaviorist immediately for proper training.

Did your mother yell or chastise you when you came in from the outside, fussed at you-dogs pick up really quick on even a tone of voice ,whatever she did something to you that your dog did not like whether its real or the dogs perception-Suggest you leah the adog so she can't chase and attack your Mom but in the vicinity inside by the door , with your Mom close by then you come in and your Mom talk nicely to you or give you a hug and you act happy. Could be that perhaps you came in unhappy, sad and the dog picked up on your negative emotion but since your Mom must have been nearby or spoke to you-the dog associated your negative emotion with your Mom and now is guarding you fom your Mom when you come in. YOU also need to correct the dog when he begins doing this and talk to him tell him you're ok that you and Mom are friends etc.

you may want to get in worry for animal abuse for hitting the dogs. The time in juvi relies upon on no matter if the choose is a dogs lover or no longer. attempt getting a squirt bottle and squirting the dogs even as it comes close to you, or status up and crossing your hands even as it comes in the route of you. i might want to also flippantly tell your mom that the dogs is biting you and that you do not elect to address the dogs any better. If she will be able to no longer pay interest, tell your dad or a grandparent. you mustn't ought to put up with a foul little dogs, yet you need to be calm and mature about the mission and hitting a dogs is neither calm or mature. dogs who're hit in hardship-free words get meaner and chew harder.

I had a similar problem with a mongrel I adopted from the pound. He slept with me, went on long walks with me and was quite obviously well bonded with me. Well, he took that bonding a bit too far. He felt it was his duty to protect me - even from non-threatening issues. For example, he growled at my mother when she came in my room to wake me from a nap. She ignored him, of course. But then when she insisted I get up, my dog bit her. She needed stitches. He just didn't understand what was a real threat to me and what wasn't.

Curb your dog's aggression toward your mom right away. If left unchecked, your mom could be in real danger. Either way, in a choice between mom and dog - your mom's safety should be your first priority - and your dog should see her as part of your family - not a threat.

Dogs have a huge hierarchy in their social structure and Peking dogs are so good at it. Obviously he sees you as the boss and sees your mother lower than himself so he is shooing her away protecting you and also he is being a bit possessive. So you and only you can stop this behavior. You have to show him that your mother is under your wing too and you don't want her to be rejected by him.

The dog needs obedience training!
I bet he is just soooo cute and it is hard to correct him? Your dog is showing your mom that he is higher in the pack hierarchy than she is. I bet the dog minds you better than your mom. She needs to do some basic obedience with the dog to let him know she is not to be 'put in her place'

Some of it is jealousy, but mainly he is protecting his pack (you). He sees your mom as an invader to the pack. He also does not respect her. I would have your mom deal with him on a daily basis (feeding, walks, etc). I also would take him to obedience classes, and have her work on obedience with him. Good luck.

I would guess the dog is wanting your attention, since you''ve been gone for awhile...he's trying to keep your mom out of the picture till he's done greeting you? Or it could be he doesn't like her?
