No, not really.

Why not?

Can someone get real spiritual help somewhere else?

Spirituality comes form within the person and from their own life lived and their own relationship with a Higher Power. Spirituality is not something that comes directly from an outside source.

I do believe that debating the subject of religion and spirituality can offer benefits if it's taken in the proper context.

YES! I think that if it is meant to be, then it can happen anywhere & anytime to anyone! Accept all that comes your way & things can get untangled with just a few words from a stranger on the internet! You don't have to agree, just accept it as it comes. Even insults can have a spiritual message hidden within! Religion & spirituality don't always go hand in hand. Some people have one without the other & get through life happy!

Oh yes. We have some very intelligent and insightful people here on YA. Even I have gotten emails from people thanking me for my help and my perspective. Anyone can make a difference in the life of another - sometimes simply by being there and participating.

Peace!

PS - Don't forget that there are clergy members here answering spiritual questions as well as doctors answering health questions, etc. Many people here are speaking from professional or long reasoned experience - you just gotta hope one of them sees your question!

I think if someone is in genuine need, they should talk to a pastor, or someone they trust. YA is not a good place for real assistance. Sometimes they can find answers to simple questions, but ....they need more than sarcasm and ridiculous answers for help.

I think it's possible. For alot of people, it's nothing more than debate class that they didn't participate in at school when they were younger. But for others, they can hide behind the anonymity of their computers and ask what they would be too embarrassed to ask of anyone in their everyday lives.

Or they could just become saddened by all the fundamentalist nut jobs on here...

But I like to think maybe I've helped people and given people new perspectives on things. But who knows if they really get half the stuff I say on here.
