I am a Ranger. I can honestly say, with NO hesitation that the SEALS go through the more brutal and difficult training.

As to the reply made by "loose kannen", Actually, the Coast Guard is the hardest to get into, followed by the Air Force and then the Navy. The Army and the Marine Corpse will take anyone that meets the physical and educational requirements.

It depends. The SEALS are trained to a variety of tasks above and below water. The bad thing there is there is just so many hours in the day and it's like trying to make a pro football player play every position well. It just doesn't happen. Army Rangers are more focused on specific tasks such as hitting moving targets at three forths of a mile away after sitting on a frozen mountain top for two weeks. So it depends on being able to do a host of things ok or a few things very well.

A true answer would probably be to ask someone who's done both... but the Navy SEALs have the reputation for being the most elite unit in the world, so they have the hardest training. It's nearly impossible just to qualify to try to be a SEAL, and even still about 80% of the people drop out.

And to the guy who said the Marines are hard to get in to... rofl.
Yes, a 32 on the ASVAB is impossible... haha.

I love the Rangers but there not compared to Navy Seals their a lot better trained in ever aspect. SEALS have a lot higher attrition rate and their training goes on for about 2 years. And also my cousin Shawn Nelson who was a Ranger and he was in the Battle of Mogadishu, after he left the army he tried to become a SEAL he told me that it was the hardest training he had ever done. And Ranger Indoc and Ranger School was like a walk in the park compared to buds

Can't judge this one. They are totally different types of units. Rangers are an overt combat unit. Seals are a covert combat unit. Seals are more comprable to Army Special Forces or Delta then Rangers. And I would say the training is comprable.

And as to which is more elite, it depends on the mission. I would not use a Seal team to seize an airfield. But I would not want the Rangers to perform a snatch operation.

Apples and oranges. Can't really compare the two.

And since we are on the subject Delta and SEALS in my oppinion are the best units. You have to been in Spec. Ops for a while to be Delta.

I believe that you are forgetting the Marines and I say Semper Fi is the champ on this issue. The USMC is the toughest to get into in the first place. The army is the easies to get into and the Navy is in the middle of the two.As far as training goes, I personally don't see alot of difference in training except for what you are specifically training for. This will also depend on the drill instructor, your personal conduct, and also your peers conduct. Also you may find that difficulty is defined by whom ever found the difficulty in the first place. Some accell where others will fail and those who fail only do so by choice for if you give it your all you have succeeded.

I have worked beside the Army Rangers and the Navy seals, the rangers did not impress me at all, but the seals were good at what they were designed to do under water and infiltration of enemy beaches, but over all I do believe the marines are the best trained when they are in special outfits, recon, and many other groups, but, not all of our marines are trained as well, and I base my judgment on how their staying power is and the effectiveness of the group, results is what counts

Well in Afghanistan it was an Air Force Combat Controller. But there were also 12 Special Forces guys covering his lonely azz.
Doesn't matter which group you pick, there will be someone that is outstanding and someone that isn't quite as good. So how do you compair?? Training is different but just as tough with either the SEALS or Rangers. Believe me if either one of them could make their training program any better,,, they would.

Navy Seals and Marine Corps Reconaissance

2006-10-13 18:03:58 · answer #9 · answered by Anonymous · 0 1

Marine Force Recon. We go threw the hardest boot camp, then the best infantry school, go threw buds with the seals, and ranger school with the army rangers. In reality, there all hard these days they all train with each other go threw equally hard training. The reason why i lean towards recon is that those guys in addition to special forces training for marine recon, seal buds, and ranger they have the hardest initial boot camp.

For me it was ranger school. In ranger school during pathfinder i started to hallucinate. The guys in my unit herd me talking to the Greek gods, like Zeus and especially Aries(god of war).

There all tough
