It would seem that God is admitting that other gods exist, although of course he isn't saying that they are real, only that He is real himself. When the old Testament was written, just like now, there were dozens of different gods. If you travelled, you would worship the local gods where you went, just like today you would expect to use the currency of the country where you stay - it made sense, and it was polite. The Hebrew god was the first god to suggest that that wasn't okay, and that you had to worship Him only no matter where you were.

Yes, isn't it odd that Yahweh seems to be saying "I am your god. Don't you pay attention to any of those other gods, they aren't for you." Today this seems to be interpreted as "all those other gods are myths, you insult me to worship a myth." Two very different meanings. Which interpretation did the the people of time have?

the verse you quote is from when Moses changed his followers from Dualism( Yahweh& Jahovah) to monthesism(Yahweh).
The Creator of all Things says that IT has as many names as there are stars inthe sky and grains of sand in the seas(oceans).
Sun worship was the most practiced religion in the world. followed by moon worship.

Sex--money--food---anything that they put above the Commandments--everytime someone breaks any of the Commandments they are also breaking the first Commandment

Anything can be a god that we put before God example would be smoking cigarettes this may be one persons god.
