Different people respond differently. Prozac and effexor are both supposed to be associated with weight loss potential for those with eating disorders. Prozac turned me into a depressed zombie. Effexor's better but I gained weight on both. I know Wellbutrin is supposed to be good for some in helping with depression, increasing energy, and controlling weight, but I've hear a few people who responded differently. In other words, you're not going to know which AD works for you without weight gain issues until you find it.

Every antidepressant can have side-effects that are quirky with each individual. However, Prozac and Welbutrin generally do not have a weight-gain side-effect. Prozac has been used for some as a weight control medication.

[Respirdal (noted above) is not an anti-depressant; it's an anti-psychotic medicaiton.]

Wellbutrin (Bupropion) doesn't cause weight gain. It does, in fact, have an opposite effect, often causing weight loss. Desyrel (Trazodone), Serozone (Nefazodone), and Effexor (Venlafaxine), are also not generally associated with weight gain.

Ask your doctor about it. Every drug has its dangers and there is almost always a trade-off.

I was on Zoloft, and didn't notice any weight gain. Other side effects yes, such as dry mouth, etc. Talk to your psycologist. They will recommend the proper thing, but let them know if it doesn't work for you. Good luck!!
