It is more of a preferance thing for the individual per se. I know christians that don't smoke and drink and I know muslims who do smoke. Either way, it is not supposed to be done by any in both of the religions. In islamic law, it is forbidden, then it was revealed that those who indulge in it shall be deprived of it in the hereafter. But christians can drink beer and wine. I don't know about 80 proof though. Like those of the jewish faith. But muslims are not supposed to do any of that. Muslims do not drink alcholol, but there are a lot who smoke. Cigarettes, hash, weed, opium, and so forth. But no man made drug. It always has to be from the earth. Though it is forbidden, they believe allah will forgive thier small faults. But christians really don't care about a lot of things. Fornication, alcohol consumption, drug use, and so forth. I know I am generalising, but that is what I see in society all of the time. Get drunk on saturday night and party. Maybe find some girl at the club and bring them home, then go to church on sunday and ask forgiveness. I know, because I lived this lifestyle for years. I am 23(my birthday is next month) now and accepted islam when I was 19. All of my freinds still do the same things and they are mostly catholics, baptist, and so forth. But they have been my friends for years and though I changed does not mean they will.

The bible says that our bodies are the temple of the holy spirit, and as such, should not be abused. Therefore, Christians should not drink alcohol or smoke because they are doing something that could destroy the temple. Some believe that an occasional drink of wine or alcohol is not harmful for Christians since it is helpful for heart disease, and since Jesus himself turned water into wine at a wedding in Capernaum. Others would never touch it and believe that the wine that they speak of in the bible was very different from the wine we now have. There are Christians who do both, and they are committing sin since we should protect the temple. But they believe that sin is sin and it's not worse than someone cheating on a test or lying to their husband about buying a new pair of shoes. Basically it is difficult to give an easy answer since all Christians do not act the same, just as all atheists do not act the same.

Of all the people I've dealt with in my life,I have never come in contact with a group of people as hypocritical an self-righteous as Christians,Born again Christians. They'll be drinking an smoking right with me,but be the first ones in the morning preaching to me about how I need to accept the lord into my heart. So yeah, they drink and smoke as well as other things...

Yes they do. If a person is addicted to like cigarettes before they knew they were bad for them (almost an impossibility today) then there is no sin there but, to intentionally do something that you know could be bad for you and addicting is a sin. Also booze--an occasional drink is o.k in moderation it is perfectly fine, but not with the intention of getting drunk. I have just found that they call it "spirits" for a reason and it is not necessarily good spirits. I don't know about the stuff though--that's kind of a broad area ya know?

There are `christians' that smoke and drink and many other things. The reason why you won't find muslims doing those things is because they believe all those things and more are worthy of death. They believe that God is a lot less forgiving than christians do.Unfortunately that make some `christians' think they can get by with anything.

That varies from one religion to the next. I grew up Church of Christ & we were more conservative than most Baptists!
We were taught to not smoke, drink or even dance. I was always surprised the Catholics could drink & smoke.
It even varies from one congregation to the next. When we lived in south Texas, our church taught you weren't allowed to wear shorts or go swimming with the opposite sex ("mixed bathing")! My father wasn't that strict, though. When we moved to Arizona, the churches there were not as strict. The church of Christ seems to be getting a bit more liberal (relatively speaking.) I run into a lot of people I know from church at a dance I like to go to. And while the general consences is that drinking & smoking isn't good, it isn't labelled as "sin" as often as it used to be.
Christians vary widely from religion to religion & even from individual to individual.
That is something to remember when we hear someone say "Muslims believe...." Maybe one sect believes that, but probably not all.

Well sure they do. Christianity is all about your relationship with Jesus. It's kind of weird though I quit smoking a few years after coming home to Jesus. I can't drink because I'm a drunk. So maybe we don't and it just took me a while to figure it out. LOL (Just Kidding)
Smoking and drinking are fine as long as you do not come under the control of them.
May GOD richly bless you.

I'm a Christian and I drink. Lots of Christians do, and lots don't. The Bible says that getting drunk, not drinking itself, is a sin, and Jesus did turn water into wine, but some christians would rather avoid it because alchohol is so easy to abuse. Nothing in the Bible about smoking; I have christian friends who do. I don't because it's unhealthy, but it's not something directly addressed.

I don't smoke. I probably have a mixed drink once every six months or so....if I happen to be at Red Lobster and feel like a pina colada!
Alot of my Christian friends don't drink at all.

the Quran says Drink But Dont get drunk
The Bible says Drink But Dont get drunk ( not in those exact words )
Reason: When one is drunk they may cause harm on others, themselves, and sin.
It is controversial in Islam if one may smoke. Some say its okay. But the Quran prohibits one doing harm to his body by taking drugs.
