Sometimes people defend or give kudos to or inquire about other religions because they are respectable and interesting religions, or to make a point. Doesn't mean the person asking the question is of that faith.

This applies to all questions. If I ask "Is it wrong to want to marry a cousin," that doesn't mean I want to. It's a theoretical question b/c I want opinions.

I agree with you and I think in this forum it is particularly presumptuous. I mean we are here to be asking questions, mostly about stuff we don't know, right? One would think we would know our own faith - it would make more sense to assume the asker knows nothing about the subject, wouldn't you think?

Peace!

That is an excellent point you just made. I study religion casually, I don't really practice any organized religion, but I ask and answer religious questions all the time. Most people do assume and I try to not let that change my answer. If they want to think that, let them. I know what I believe and that is all that matters in my opinion.

When I answer a question, I just answer from what I know, not what I assume the person to be. Anyone can pose a question for a number of reasons.

People, as human nature allows, jump to conclusions. Overall we (meaning people in general) are too lazy to think things out somethims and this shows are of in our case. My advice is just to ignore them for why waste your time with the mundane?

They want to label you. Then they can marginalize your opinions. Its the American way.
