look, the husky is a good dog and a loyal one, and is kindful with kids, but is not a dog to put under the kisd care anytime, because is a dog just for an adult to handle.

so a least you will be all the time the kisd share with the dog, no way

try a golden retriever

well honestly you shouldn't get the puppy just because your children want it. Sure it is good for them to grow up with a dog. But just a gentle reminder that you are the adult and are legally responsible for the dog you will be the one paying for the food, taking him/her to the vet. not trying to say you shouldn't but have a dog but have you really thought the whole issue threw. puppy's require alot of care, they need to be socialized and also need to get house trained but if you or no one else is home for 6-8 hours a day that is too long to leave a puppy alone, even if you are crate training. Just speaking from experience that you should make sure your ENTIRE family is ready and go online and search different breed characteristics.. to see what type of dog would best fit in to your family and life style and what size dog, because remember the only thing about a puppy is sometimes your not sure exactly how big they will get. just think it threw maybe go to your local shelter and just talk with some of the people their to see what ideas and other things they can recommend , they will probably let you visit with some dogs so you can get a feel for things..... good luck...

You really need to do your research on Husky's before you get one. I have two, one Alaskan/Lab mix one Siberian. They both have seizures, they are both stubborn, they're noisy...they love to whine and howl. My Alaskan Husky also has hip displasia and Lupus.
Pure bred Husky's are prone to many genetic diseases and illnesses. They can also be very difficult to train, and to keep in a yard! They are natural wanderers and they will dig and climb to get out if left unattended.
Other than that, they are wonderfully loving companions. I wouldn't trade mine for anything! Just be sure that you know what you are getting into before you get one. This is a common breed of dog that ends up at the animal shelters because the owners didn't do their research before hand and decided to late that they couldn't handle the dog.
Good luck!

As in did they bring it home? You should know that one.

How old are your kids?
Kids shouldn't be put in charge of the care of any animal without strict supervision. They will be great to begin with, then lose interest. If you want to get them a pup, make sure YOU have the time for a puppy, more that likely you will be the one looking after it. Even if you are only reminding the kids to feed, walk, cleanup, etc after the pup

There really is no way but to throw them into the fire. But most children wont be responsible for a puppy because most adults arent. They are cute lovable but very time consuming. You all should watch a few episodes of the Dog Whisperer and learn a few techniques.

How old are the kids? Kids over 10 usually do good with owning and caring for a dog. Do they help keep their room clean and do other chores around the house? If they don't, then they will probably not take care of the dog either.

Everyone thinks their kids need a dog. Consider a bird; Not one that stays in a cage but one they can interact with - like a cockatiel. They are sweet, small, they are funny, and kids love them. Are the kids responsible enough? Only you would know if your kids are responsible. Actually, if you have to ask - they probably are not.

No matter how responsible your kids may be, you will still end up doing the majority of the work after awhile. It's fun for the kids the first few months but after that? Have fun picking up all that dog poop!

As long as you show your kids not to hit or pull on the tail they will be fine with the dog. Cause if one of those does happen usually the dog will want to play and they are pretty strong dogs. And if you have young children they might get hurt. But as long as you teach them how to treat the dog everything will work out fine.
