For speaker cable, get some good
quality 14 gauge cable, or for best
sound at a reasonable price point, the
DH Labs Silver Sonic T-14.

For an amp, get one that is anywhere
between 40 wpc into 8 Ohms to 100
wpc into 8 Ohms. A couple choices
that I would recommend to you is the
Onkyo TX-8011 stereo receiver, or
one from Yamaha.

Hooked up to what? If you are just going to use them on your computer, or a small (less than 50w) ghetto banger, you can use good old zip cord, the kind used in low current extension cords.
This is also true if using them on a 50w car radio (25w's per channel). The only problem here is most car radios are 4 Ohm where as home radios are 8 Ohm. So it would take twice the audio power from a car radio to drive them hard enough to get the same "volume" as if they were 4 Ohm speakers.

You probably need 12 to 14 gauge wiring and an amp that pushes 8 ohms or less.
