An SSRI - serotonin reuptake inhibitor
anti-inflammatory like ibuprofen or aspirin
exercise

All of these are good options. I STRONGLY recommend that you avoid opiates (also known as narcotics) because they have (in many scientific studies) been shown to be ineffective. Plus, they are very, very addictive. Since fibromyalgia is a chronic issue, opiods are innappropriate therapy. If you start them now, your body will become accustomed to them, and you will need (over time) to constantly increase your dose, and eventually none of them will work for you.

Medications like Soma, Flexeril (cyclobenzaprine) are muscle relaxants. They also have a high potential for abuse, and should be avoided when ever possible.

Consider other, non-pill related treatment. Studies have shown that fibromyalgia patients on SSRI's do better over all.

Good luck.

I have had fibro for over 12 yrs. I have been the member of a few support groups for fibro. Nothing will kill the pain only numb it. Flexerel is good for the burning sensations in the muscles.

I have not taken prescription meds for fibro in over 8 yrs. I take Guaifenesin for my fibro. You have to follow a certain protocol. It is not a cure but it helps me and others enormously with the pain and fatigue. Go to these websites for info.

My boyfriend has fibroymaliga and they have been treating him with Cymbalta and Flexaryl..since they switched him to that he hasn't been complaining as much so I am guessing that is a good treatment plan. Only your doctor can come up with the best treatment for you in Ohio though. Good luck!

PLEASE be tested for liver disease! I cannot stress this enough!
Fibromyalgia is a SYMPTOM of something viral!

Hepatitis C is a great one to start with! Have them test for antibodies, do not rely on a standard blood lab!
