For all of the "quick and easy" weight loss diet pill suggestions, remember, if something sounds too good to be true... it probably is, particularly if you have to pay for it.
On Yahoo!Answers I find certain questions being asked repeatedly which is simply a reflection of new people participating. A couple of common question amounts to "How do I lose weight," or more specifically, "How do I lose abdominal fat?" I have gotten very positive responses from my answers when I paused to reply (and now beginning to get "It works!" emails that are very gratifying. I like helping people)... so have recently decided to put a good solid answer on my Yahoo!360 Blog (September 10) that I can point people to. These are my thoughts as a physician and athlete.
Don't target losing more than about 2 lbs per week. If you try to lose faster, your body will go into "starvation mode" and get very stingy about burning calories while at the same time very efficient about storing any calories that you do provide. And it will make you feel awful.
There is no site specific way of losing fat... the old myth about working your abs to burn belly fat isn't true. To get rid of love handles, you need to lose overall fat. That happens with exercise and watching your diet. More on that below.
The most effective way to lose fat is aerobic exercise in the "moderate" fat-burning range, ideally first thing in the morning before you eat. When you wake your body is ready to burn fat and your levels of growth hormone are highest at that time. Later in the day it can take up to 30 minutes just to put your body into a fat-burning mode.
Another overlooked way to burn fat is by lifting weights. Skeletal muscle has very high caloric needs... almost twice that of adipose (fat) tissue. Put on a little muscle and you will burn calories all day even at rest. Be aware that skeletal muscle weighs more, so with this approach you may see your weight increasing while your body fat is melting away. Not realizing this often stresses folks who think they should be losing weight as a measure of fitness. Forget the scale, look in the mirror and you will be happy.
To lose a pound of fat, you need to eliminate about 3500 calories. You can do this by burning more with exercise or by modifying your diet to reduce intake. If you do a Google search on say, "swimming calories" you will quickly find a website with tables of calories burned for a given exercise. You can use such lists to estimate how many calories you are burning up with your routine.
For diet, keep a diary for a couple of weeks counting calories, grams of protein, and grams of fat intake. It is easy with online sources of nutritional information (type the name of the food and calories into the Google search engine) and packaging labels. That will let you quickly figure out where the fat is coming from in your diet.
Fat gives you 9 calories per gram. So take the number of grams of fat, multiply by 9, then calculate what percentage the fat calories are of your total daily calories. Restricting the calories from fat to about 20% of your total intake is ideal for a maintenance diet... that isn't overly restrictive. Of note, you need some fat in your diet. For instance, the body uses fat to produce hormones. Once you have a picture of how to modify your diet, you can drop the diary and just go back to it occasionally if you are wanting to tweek things further.
There is a subset of questions that goes further and asks about "How to get a six-pack?" The answer is the same. Six-packs are 20% abdominal exercise and 80% diet. There is one caveat... abdominal muscles will form in the position that you work them, so be certain to pull them tightly toward your spine while doing crunches, etc. Also, during most lifting, the "core is active" which means that you should be stabilizing with contracted abs then too. Fail to do this and the abs will form, but bulging outward and the result is not attractive.
If you are trying to build muscle as a way to lose fat, then you may need to increase total calories and specifically your protein intake. I target about 0.8 g of protein per pound of body weight each day when actively building. That is far more protein than most people need in their diets.

First off, all the people telling you not to eat or to go on salad diets probably don't know the following facts.
If you don't eat, your body thinks you have no food and it slows down your metabolism. So instead of burning fat, it keeps it.
I would suggest planning on what you're going to eat in advance. If you have the munchies for something sweet, try strawberries or some honey. Or dark chocolate (not too much mind you)
Don't buy any unhealthy foods. Keep fruits and veggies handy. Make sure at least half of what you eat is fruits/veggies. And if you have a salad, try light dressing or vinegar. Some salads, because of croutons, bits of bacon, heavy ranch dressing, etc, are actually fattening.
Try eating six small meals a day (If you're still hungry, guzzle down water or go out and do something so you forget you're hungry. If that doesn't work have some nuts or granola). Exercise, as in yoga, jogging, following along to exercise videos, going to the gym, biking, roller blading, at least 5 times a week. But don't go more than an hour or two, or exercise less than 30 minutes.
Depending on your body weight and height, it might be possible to loose 10 or more pounds a week. But the skinnier you are, the harder it is to lose weight. Don't use a scale is my suggestion, just judge for yourself if you think you're a bit flabby, losing weight is alright, but if you're looking anorexic or just way too bony ... well. Might want to gain weight then.

10 pounds in a week is never healthy. You are not loosing the fat, but are loosing muscle as well.
I went on a diet not to long ago, and thought about it the exact way as you seem to now. I really didnt care if I lost muscle or fat. As long as I was loosing weight.
I signed up at a local gym, and lost weight very quickly. Sometimes 7 lbs in a week. It was the best feeling in the world.
I started out doing it un-healthy at first. Skipping meals and working out. It really doesnt work that way.
Fact: Your body doesnt respond to starvation and overworking. The only thing you'll acheive is a shut down system, fatigue, dizzieness..ect. ( I have experienced all myself)
Your body will shut down and feed off of what it has stored. Anything you eat, your body will put into 'savings' . Because your body feels like it is starving.
You will only keep the exact weight you are at OR gain exess.
NOW-
If you are really serious about weight loss, you need a program.
I went to the gym every mon, wed, fri. And had a low calorie diet. No matter what, ALWAYS drink as much water as possible. Water curbs appitite and helps to flush away exess fat cells.
Try cutting meals, such as take away 1/4 at first then 1/3. Untill you are eating 1/2 at one of your meals. Lean Cuisine is a good brand, good food. But for me, the meal wasnt that filling. I would reccommend Healthy Choice Brand. Good Tasting and not a small meal. Never Ever think that you have to starve your self! You will end up thinking that you can eat 'two extra candybars' only because you skipped a meal, and feel the need to eat something. Also, never have a large calorie intake come from a drink. Get Diet Soda, Diet everything you can. In the end, it will all pay off. Trust me.
Hope I could help. Send me an Email if you need anymore help. I'd be glad to offer my input. That goes for anyone. = )

The others are right, 10 lbs in a week is unhealthy. However, my guess is it's not the weight that's bothering you, but your looks. THAT you can fix in a week. It's also quite simple! See, a lot of people (especially women!) retain water, which makes them look more bloaty than they are. Drink a TON was water and try to cut salt from your diet as much as possible (check foods, they may be saltier than you think). Your body will get used to the constant water supply and retain less, coupled with a decreased need for "body water" needed to maintain osmotic pressure due to a lower salt content. In short: maybe lose a couple pounds, but your tummy and love handles will be NOTICEABLY flatter and more toned! Good luck!

Go to the store, go down the jello isle and grab and grab a box of Certo and pick up a gallon of Cranberry juice. Mix the Certo in with the juice. Pinch your nose and chug all of it. Don't plan on going anywhere other then the bathroom for awhile. Just eat soup, like chicken noodle. You should eat very watery soups. The first ten pounds is only water. Never the less you never want to lose more than two pounds a week, very unhealthy. However, I once hit 200lbs and sank down to 140 in 3, yes 3 months! Very illegally and very dangerous to.

Helpful Tips to lose weight
Many people are really exasperated with the same old tips for weight loss. Therefore we have added a few different tips to lose weight below:
Always find a chance to move around. Do not use a vehicle if you are able to walk. Preferably run around if you have the time. Almost 70% of your calories are burned in this process. Instead of depending on magical ways to lose weight, apply your own efforts by eating less and moving more.

Try the fruit flush. It basically a quick detox that is actually good for you compared with all the other ones. You basically drink protein shakes and real protein the first day. The next two days you basically eat all fruits and one salad. It's only for three days. You should lose 3-9 pounds depending upon your metabolism. I have the book in PDF format if you want it or you can buy it online for like $5 on Amazon (The Fruit Flush).
