i don't see a problem with that as long as you are able to keep a close eye on what she is watching and you set limits as to how long she can watch it for. and im sure you already make sure her home work and such are done already. right? but if you see that this is getting out of control and she is taking advantage of this privilege you need to end it.and tell her that you will give it a try again in lets say 6 months.

I'm going to have to say,"no." I wouldn't let a 7 year old have their own TV in their room. First of all, they aren't responsible at that age to take care of something that expensive. Number two, if you put a TV in their room, they'll be in their room all the time watching it instead of doing homework, spending time with family, playing outside, etc. And that isn't good. And three, you'd have to make sure you didn't have like HBO or Cinemax in there because your 7 year old would be watching porn. I personally think TVs, play stations, DVD players, computers should be put in a family room where parents can monitor what their children are doing. But that's just my opinion!

I really don't think it's appropriate for a child to have a television in their room. First of all, it diminishes the control you have over what they are watching - children need to be supervised, there is far too much inappropriate material on television, you need to have control. But even MORE so, what will that do to family time? Everyone in their own bedrooms watching their own television, not spending time together, not socializing. Sorry, but it's things like THIS that I think are wrong with a lot of children today - they have no attention spans and have no idea to talk to real, live people, because they don't spend a lot of time with any.
Best Regards,
Holly

That doesn't sound like a good idea, but if you have cable... it's an even worse idea. Think about what she could be watching, HBO after dark, which is softcore porn but still not suitable for a 7 year old. If your child is smart enough to not take TV serious, then you should let her, but often children re-enact what they saw on television.

I don't think it is a great idea. My 7 year old daughter has a DVD player (portable) in her room and on occasion watches a show in her room. I try to keep my kids in the family room, as a family. I hope she wouldn't have all access to cable tv. Get her outside to be active too, mine plays soccer every Saturday as well as regular outdoor playtime. Good luck!

No. Kids that age need to avoid too much tv bc it actually affects the brain and learning. Not to mention she'll spend more time laying around in bed, isolated, eating and getting lazy. It's also very bad for family communications. She is way too young to have a TV in her room. No.

if you really want your daughter to see all the crazy things on TV then go for it. but you and me know that nothing on TV is like it used to be. and if you do let her make sure it goes off at a certain time even i she does start crying or trowing a fit then you tell her if she wants the TV at all she will listen to you when you tell her to turn it off or to not watch certain shows . good luck with your decision

Sure I guesss, but I hear that tv watching at night is not really good for kids so just be careful of that. And also make sure that she is not watching it all the time, make sure she goes outside and run around and play like crazy- shes at such a fun age to just have some fun outside! =)

I think it depends on the circumstance. My son got his kids all 3 one with DVD player as he works such strange hours and they sometimes had to go to bed at 7 or 8 so he could sleep, so they got these and each some favorite movies and it made it easier to get them to bed early which is really hard in the summer!!!!!!!!!!!!

Absolutely not. TV is addictive and there are shows that a 7 year old should not be watching. You need to supervise what she watches and discuss it with her.
