Yes, but so are red meat, potatoes, fresh spinach, automobile emissions, cigarette smoke, beer...get the picture?

Caffiene is what is bad. When I reduced my caffiene intake, my ADHD symptoms reduced. The kinds of coffee we drink today are not the same kinds our grandparents were drinking. We're not drinking 6-8ounces of Yuban a day, we're ordering Venti Mochas with two shots of high grade espresso tossed in that get our heart rates up in the morning around the same rate as a rabbit on crank.

And then, when you start to come down and you get cranky, you're going back for another fix at the Coke machine or back at *Bux.

The caffiene-fortified machine's got you in its grips, and we're all suckin' it right up.

So, to answer your questions. Does it damage your body? Yeah, but not in readily identifiable ways. The caffiene will dehydrate you ...its a diuretic, its one of those things that make a "Coffee N' Cigarette Diet" so popular, because you can drink the coffee, keep yourself up n' caffienated, and the cigarettes will supress your appetite. (Skinny...but you'll leave a nice lookin' cancer-ridden corpse).

Is 17 too young? If you *like* the taste of coffee like I do (take mine strong and black), then try a decaf option. You will be better off without the stimulants. I've been drinking coffee since I was 8 years old and drinking my grandmother's own roast in hawaii. Sheesh, it might explain some things. :)

I've been drinking coffee ever since I was a wee laddy and my daddy would sit me up to the kitchen table on Sunday mornings before Sunday school and church and fill my cup up with half coffee and half milk and a couple of spoonfuls of sugar. I guess they call that Boston coffee. By the time I was a teenager I was drinking it black.

Some friends jokingly tell me that it stunted my growth because I'm only 5' 4'', but I enjoy my coffee and I drink it all day long, even in the hot summer.

not too young, No. but the caffeine in soda and coffee can. serous! the caffeine slowly drains your adrenaline into your blood stream and that's why you are awakened by coffee. cuz your blood cells store adrenaline and if you drink a lot of soda or coffee that is full of caffeine it releases it when its not suppose to. like your adrenaline would kick in when some one very close was in danger. a true story. this guy was working under his car, OK, then his wife hears him cry out, so she runs out and finds him wedged under the car, so she runs to the car and picks it up!! and he gets out from under the car. i think they called the police and they asked her "how did you lift the car? and single handedly?".. her adrenaline kicked in and gave her the strength! but if you drink stuff with a lot of caffeine; well your story will probably wont be so happy. why? cuz you have been draining you adrenaline and now your blood cells don't have enough to give you that super burst of strength!! so i suggest decaf coffee

Nope, most studies are showing really positive effects of coffee drinking. Just use common sense. a few cups a day is good. A few pots are BAD. Caffeine in moderate amounts can be good but it is ADDICTIVE, as is sugar.

One thing that is true is that caffeine causes prostate infections in men. So if you are male and drink caffeinated coffee, than I would say yes.....coffee does damage your body. Just ask my husband :(

Only in excess....I started drinking it at 13 or so and was fine. It can make you anxious at times or keep you up but it's fine in the mornings. If not, just drink decaf.

I am Jack's Rage. Coffee is not good for you. It may not be that bad for you but it's not good for you. If you can avoid becoming addicted to it and the caffeine, that would be the better path.
