do the right thing? This is my example.... You may want to be with someone but you know that they would be better off with someone else, even though it was said that they want YOU. Would you indulge or disappear? Tell me your thoughts AND your own stories, if you would?

im2_weird, this is true. Though I am saying "the right thing" not she. I believe she knows that it is right to let him go. It is a matter of self or selfless. Thankyou.

Indulge in what you want, so long as you are prepared for both the long-term and short-term risks and consequences. Most importantly, trust your own judgment so that your desires (wants) are in harmony with your rational thoughts (knowledge). If you know that some person is better off with someone else, i.e. not a good fit for you, then you will be happiest trusting your own intuition on the matter. Whatever you do, don't let self-doubt create the paralyzing fear which damns all. After I decided to trust myself in relationships, a beautiful world quickly opened up to me.

Unfortunately I have lived through this nightmare! I disappeared from his life and he married the women he would have been better off with. It hurt me alot, as I loved him dearly, but she was better for him for long distance reasons and other reasons also. It was so hard letting go as I knew in my heart we were soul mates. Every time he and I had a fight he ran to her, and he was her best friend when I had to fly to my own country. They are now married and very happy. I still love him from a distance and miss him, but I am now at peace they are happy. It wasn't easy for me to get to this point though. Took me a year.

im friends with this guy and we had off and on crushes for each other. he was so in love with his last girlfriend but she left him for another guy. it broke his heart and he became depressed over her. i never tried dating him afterwards because i know i cant ever add up to his ex. if we dated, id always feel second best.. hes a great guy though and deserves the best girl in the world.

if you are willing to accept the CONSEQUENCES then you can do anything

there is always a tradeoff but you can always choose wisely by using the FIVE YEAR RULE just ask yourself WHEN I LOOK BACK FIVE YEARS FROM NOW WILL I BE GLAD I CHOSE THIS PATH

If they want you, the only reason they would be better off without you is if you don't want them. My fiancee thinks I would be better off without him, but I don't believe so. My life is complete with him. Yes it would be easier without him, but never come close to being as rewarding.

listen to your heart. it sounds like it's telling you to split. why waste you time and later either get hurt or really hurt him when you can avoid it in the first place?

Should we _____ or do the right thing? It doesn't matter how you fill in the blank, I'd do the right thing, at least in cases such as these.
