This river is not on earth. Its the river you encounter after you die and your soul has to cross this river. Its water blots out all memory of sin. You cross it to the other side to the region where you go to be with family members or friends while you await judgment from God. THIS IS NOT in your Bible. This is theology
which I'm now interested in and its fascinating!

In Greek mythology, Lethe is one of the several rivers of Hades.

Drinking from the river Lethe ("forgetfulness" or "oblivion") caused complete forgetfulness.

Some ancient Greeks believed that souls were made to drink from the river before being reincarnated, so they would not remember their past lives.

The river Lethe has nothing to do with the Catholic doctrine of Purgatory.

With love in Christ.

Well, the Greeks called it the river Styx, and being that Peter uses the Greek word Tarturus for deep Hell, you just might cross a river, that could be what Jesus called the great Chasm that separated Lazarus from the rich man after death, and maybe Hades does row you over. The Romans called this area across the river the "Elysian Fields",it's all Paradise.

Actually the Lethe is a river in Hades from Greek mythology. It was the river where you forgot your past life so you could move on to your next life. Don't know when it became Christian theology...

Lethe has nothing at all to do with Christianity. It has to do with greek mythology.
