Hopefully a Medical Doctor will give you an authentic answer. I was stationed at Goose Bay, Labrador for 3 years. One heating plant was supposed to provide steam heat for the entire base, but frequently the barracks and dependent family housing would remain at 60 degrees F for several hours at a time. We also took Boy Scouts into the fields where their tents were 45 degrees inside for 24 hours at a time. So long as people wore enough clothes to keep warm, their health seemed unaffected. Breathing air below about 40 degrees can harm your lungs (the Air Force doctors told us), but they said it was safe to let the Boy Scouts remain at camp for 24 hours. They used sleeping bags at night. Several counsellors were over 50 years old and did not seem to suffer any arm.

Why is your house 59 degrees? do you have no heat? Or do you just like it chilly? It can't be good for you, not sure of your age, but it causes aches and pains if you are older and get cold, like with arthritis.

5C IS chilly my expensive, approximately 41F. We use celcius over right here in oz..so Im used to that. I dont understand the previous F readings so I continually ought to transform whilst some one on right here talks in Fahrenheit extremely than Celcius. i detect the previous Imperial device perplexing. The metric device in simple terms makes use of gradients of 10 for each little thing soooo basic. I learnt it at school and become sooo satisfied to alter over. The trick is to resign thinking what it quite is in imperial in simple terms learn that's what a kilo sounds like or kilometres or Celcius and so on. ignore changing it lower back and you will %. it up very quickly.

I understand completely. I have propane heat and I just called to find out how much it costs, per gallon, today. At $2.99/gallon I turned my thermostat down to 60 degrees myself. I wish I COULD turn the heat up!!!!!!!!!!!!! CAn't afford it at those rates! I find that keeping it at that temp causes mold to form on the walls. Esp behind bookcases and dressers ect. So check them often. And start playing the lottery so you can afford to crank up the heat.

Why don't you turn the heat up? As far as health issues, cool air is better for you than hot. It's easier to sleep in cool weather.

Do you do that to save $$ on heating bills? I set mine at 58 degrees for sleeping. Your under the covers and can stay warm.
I've done it for several years with no ill effects to my health. My
wallet thanks me when that gas bill comes in.

don't think it'll make you sick, but 59 is rather cold. I'd crank it up to at least 65, won't cost you that much more
