okay now that i found out cats can have a litter of kittens to different fathers i'dlike to ask a specific question this black and white cat had three kittens that looked all exactly the same except the male is a bit larger (which is normal assuming he is a male) and their colours are different the male came out black and white like the mother another female cat came out tortoise shell and another came out white with honey patches...what are the chances that these kittens all have different fathers??? the lady who owns them assumes they have different fathers because they are different colours but i think this is completely normal in cats...??? anyone???

It is possible for a cat to have had several different "partners" and to give birth to different kittens from different fathers. I know that it sounds a bit far-fetched, but it is quite possible.

Although they could be different fathers, she can't be sure unless she has a DNA test. =) What did the Mom's Mom and Dad look like and their parents, etc. If she doesn't know the lineage, she doesn't know what colors the family members are, so there's no way to tell 100%. Domestic cats have different colored cats all too frequently.
Humans can also give birth to twins, who have two different father.

It is completely normal for a mother cat to have a litter of kittens that all look different -

A male cat can only have up to two colors on him - a female can have as many as is inherited - but neither has to have more than one color

I've owned cats all my life. Female cats can have kittens by several different male cats.

There really is no way to tell! It is very possible that they all have different fathers, or they all just look a little different, which can also sometimes happen! Sorry!
