Yes, I think animals are smarter than a lot of humans. I have a cat that understands a few words besides it's name.

Yes they are smarter than most people give them credit for. They do understand in different ways. I used to work for a vet and he said that on an average most dogs can learn from 1000 - 1500 words. They also understand by the tone of your voice. Pets have a way of sensing your moods. People with disabilities sometimes have dogs because the dog can sense an episode coming on (examples: asthma, epilepsy, etc.) The next time your really sick watch your dog, she will stay close to you. She knows something is wrong and she is trying to comfort you.

I don't think you are crazy at all, many animals are smarter than most people give them credit for. I love animals and have been around them for most of my life, and sometimes they can be so amazing! You might not believe me but I almost died when I was four years old, I fell off the edge of the lake I had wondered off alone and was throwing rocks off the edge that I thought was sturdy and it gave away under me, there was a creek next to this an outlet into the lake and the undertow or pull whatever you call it pulled me away from shore, I screamed for Blackie, my labrador and he swam in a I grabbed hold of his tale. There were no people around and if it wasn't for him, I would have drowned. Also, you might wanna check out amazing animal stories on Animal Planet, these are documented accounts of similar amazing things animals have done to rescue people and other animals, so yeah I believe that they definitely know what is going on!

Absolutely! There are always stories about dogs staying by their owners when they are ill or hurt, alerting families to a fire, etc. There are dogs who can sense that someone with a seizure disorder may be having a seizure before the person does. There have also been reports that some dogs can detect some types of cancer before it is diagnosed.

Dogs (and cats) don't develop attitudes or have preconceived notions about age, skin color, gender. Dogs have been known to be loyal and love unconditionally an owner who mistreats them.

Hi. I have 2 rotts. My male chose me. He goes everywhere with me. I can always tell when he is learning something new! he tilts his head to the side and watches whatever it is I am doing. He is 7yrs old he know how to turn on the bath water, open doors ( regular door knobs, and motel room doors), he can also roll down a hand crank window in a vehicle. We have taught him regular dog tricks but the things he learned on his own are my favorite. He also told my sister when she was pregnant. He would lay his head on her tummy and whimper. She went to the doctor and she was 2 months along. My female rott is the lover no matter what mood I am in she is right there. I also have a cat and he is to smart for his own good. He knows a few words like his name, come, get down and stay. He is only 4 months old.
All animals are smarter then we give them credit for. Love your pets 4 they love you!!!!!!!!

Yes, she does understand you! I'm so happy to find people like you that realize that animals are more intelligent than what most people give them credit for. My cat knows when I have had a bad day or am sick. She'll come up to me and lick my face, and my dog will stay next to me until I feel better. However your dog reacts, take that as a sign that it she is very intelligent and curious.

They can sense your mood. If you are anxious while at the vet and nervous about something you are going to have done to the dog (surgery or blood draw, etc.), the dog will sense your anxiety and become worried, also.

They are so much smarter than many people give credit for!

Yes dogs understand human language to some extent. Dogs have been living with humans for 10000 years. So its natural that they have evolved and learned to understand the human language all this while. Don't forget dogs have their own language too. Dogs bark differently for different things if you would notice.
