Have you actually seen the worms? If so, did they look like little pieces of white rice? If they did, they are tapeworms. You can buy a dewormer for tapeworms called "Drontal" or "Praziquantel" from your vet or even a pet store. You will also need to deworm your kitty, because tapeworms can sometimes be transmitted between cats. Cats get tapeworms from fleas or from ingesting a dead rodent (mainly mice) that has them.
Hope this helps and good luck!

It depends on what type of worms the stray cat has. Some worms are passed from animal to animal, some worms aren't. You need to take the cat to a vet and have them take a fecal sample to see which kind of worms he has. Then the vet will give you the correct medicine at the correct dosage.
Over the counter worm meds that you buy from the pet stores do not typically work, they are a waste of money. Especially when you don't know what kind of worms he has, so you don't know what kind of meds he needs. At this point you would just be guessing and will most likely treat him for the wrong kind.
Good luck and bless you and your mom for taking in this stray cat!

Cats can catch worms from wild animals and other cats and it dosn't matter if they are fixed or not, the best way is to worm both of them by buying an ALL WORMER from the local pet shop or the supermarket should also have some.
Cats can travel miles to a female on heat, but being a male they do wander far from there homes if not fixed.
So best bet is to worm them both if not all the cats in the house and that should cover then for about 3 months.
Good luck.
Also the ALL WORMER treats most of the worms that cats have but if it dosn't get rid of them in afew days I would suggest taking him into the vet and asking about the type of worm he would have.

your cat may get worms. It could be hard getting the stray to take the meds though. You can get the meds at pet stores if you know what you are doing, but you don't know what kind of worms these are, so I would have to recommend taking a stool sample to the vet and having them look at it and give you a recommendation. Both cats will probably have to be done.

Set up a comfortable space for the cat, and buy some worm medicine that your local vet recommends. As for the owner, ask around your neighborhood, and maybe even some 'Found' ads. I myself am currently trying to find the owner of a stray, also. Good luck!

The best way for the cat to be treated is to know exactly what he has. By doing this, you need a fresh stool sample and the vet can let you know. But, they can not prescribe anything without seeing the cat and getting a weight for proper dosing.
Your cat can very easily get any parasites he may have. Also, many parasites are zoonotic, meaning they are transmittable to humans. Especially if there are small children in the home, they put everything in their mouths! if there are hookworms, this can easily be spread by not wearing shoes outside, stepping in infested fecal matter and the parasite transfer to your foot and wah-lah, you have hookworms now, too.
Both cats need to see a vet for proper dx and treatment.

There are pet stores that have low-cost shot clinics, and they could give you some meds for the worm problem. Look in your phone book to find them. As far as your cat catching the worms, it might be possible, I'm not sure.

Take him to the vet.. The doctor will give him medicine and he will get better.
Took in a poor stray kitty once - that happened...his stomach was all bloated and then he started throwing up worms...they won't eat when they have the worms... Take him to the vet ASAP or go to your local Pet Smart and see if they have something.
Hope this helps!

Take the stray to a vet right away to get it treated and neutered. If it has worms it can infect your cat as well.
