I have no idea. I'd like to have the faith of Abraham, but I couldn't swear I could follow through with sacrificing my own children to God.
You're annoyed that we keep bringing up that God wouldn't ask us that in the first place. Look at it this way, though:

Your question basically has two parts. Because my belief is based on the fact that no more blood sacrifices are needed, if God needed and/or demanded a blood sacrifice, he's not the god I came to know, and therefore, I probably wouldn't do it. The two situations can't be put together (belief in God, and He demanding a blood sacrifice), so the answer is not just a simple yes-or-no kind of thing.

Officially, my answer is "I have no idea, and I'm thankful I'll never have to make that decision." Sorry if that's not what you're fishing for. :-\

I would doubt it was God speaking, It is true that God told Abraham to sacrifice Isaac it wouldnt be the same as Romans points out Abraham expected God to raise Isaac since God promised to bless the world through Isaac... so... not a total direct complrison Abraham knew he would get Isaac back by something like a resurrection... GOd asked but only wanted to test the willingness and didnt let Abraham do it... AND allot of ther reason for the event was a picture of what would happen through Jesus

also...not the same as with Jesus dying either ..after all God did raise him and did him back forever... with more children Jesus redeemed... not the same

I doubt God would ask this in the porphets God complained about people sacrificing theri children

I would do it if I qwas convinced it was reallyreally GOd but I just doubt God would ever say that

Context. Context. Context.

Abraham lived hundreds of years before the Ten Commandments were given to Moses and the Jewish people.

Abraham lived in a society where human sacrifice and child sacrifice was the normal thing to do.

God was just beginning to reveal himself to mankind and Abraham did not have the Bible or much of anything else to go on.

Abraham knew that his son was a gift from God. If God demanded that Abraham kill the son, then Abraham, although it probably broke his heart, would do it.

Under the same circumstances (context) would we be able to follow God's will?

Under the much easier circumstances that we live in today, can we follow God's will as Jesus revealed it to us?

With the Ten Commandments, the Prophets, and especially Jesus Christ as part of our current circumstances (context), God would not put us to this test.

But we do have similar issues to tackle, like abortion, where in defiance of God's command, we kill our children who are gifts from God.

With love in Christ.

I realize the point you are trying to make. However you said in your details you didnt ask whether God would ask ... but what if he did.
Friend thats like saying "have you quit beating your wife yet?" either way you answer it... its a trap and can be construed to any point.
The fact is God did do that once.... with Abraham... and when it came to the point where Abraham was going to sacrafice his son... the word says an angel of God stayed his hand. And a ram was provided for the sacrafice.

The real point of this is not whether we would sacrafice our child for God..... but that God DID sacrafice his son for us. I urge you to focus your energies not in making hypothetical questions about what God "might" do ... and focus on what God HAS done.

God bless you will be keeping you in prayer here :)

I would do whatever God told me to do....even though I don't believe God would let me go thru with it...and I would have to be very sure it was a command directly from my God. It would be another test....just like Abraham. Even though, when I first read that story..I thought it was cruel of God to test a man in that way.

God already did ask one of his servents to do exactly that.

(Gen 22 NIV) Some time later God tested Abraham. He said to him, "Abraham!" "Here I am," he replied. {2} Then God said, "Take your son, your only son, Isaac, whom you love, and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains I will tell you about."

The difference being that he was using it as a model for what would happen on that exact same hill 1500 years later, the crucification of Jesus Christ when another father would sacrifice his only son. And by the way Isaac was not sacrificed.

To answer your question I would do what my Father asks me to. He would never ask me to do something I could not do. If you read the Bible you would see that it is not in his character to ask more than we can bare.

It happened once before if you know anything about the Bible. I think it was in Genesis 22:2 that God tempted Abraham and told him to sacrifice his son at the alter. Before Abraham could do it though he was stopped and God rewarded Abraham for his faith and God blessed him many times over. If you really believe in God and know He would do only what is best for you, you will be rewarded.

God in one unique moment in history asked Abraham to take his only son and offer him as a sacrifice. God has already promised Abraham that this son would be the seed from which a great nation would spring. Based on the promise, Abraham knew that when God asked him to sacrifice his son, He would make a way to keep his promise... God was looking for faith and obedience..but did not allow Abraham to kill his son.
God would not ask me to give my son as he has not make me the promise that he made Abraham. That was a unique incident, and cannot be compared to you suggestion/question.

I did have to kill my child.

After I felt his soul leave me when I went into premature labor at 24 weeks and the placenta ripped, I knew that there was no one home anymore and prayed for my baby to die while he was still inside me so that we wouldn't have to watch him die when he came out.

That being said, your question is invalid.

Jesus already died for all of our sins.

There are to be no more blood sacrifices.

If I were to hear or feel that God were telling me to do such a thing than I would immediately know that it was the devil pretending to be God and the evil one would be rebuked and banished.

Discernment, which is one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit, gives us the ability to differentiate between what is truely of God and what is not of God.

god asked Abraham to do that to his only son Isaac the son he had at a vary late age,and Abraham took his son where God commanded and was about to slay his throat open when God spoke to him and told him not to do it anymore, that He was just testing him.
So I know God will never ask this of us, if He ever does, well God gave me my sons and He can have them back whenever He wants, I have faith in God no matter what He asks.
