no matter what the problem drugs and alcohol are just cover ups you may escape reality for a while when you drug and/or drink but the problems will still be there when you jump back into reality sometimes the problems seem even more intense than before and look at how you feel when your escape wears off there are many other ways to cope with the issues in your life no matter how hopeless they seem destroying your mind and body with drugs and alcohol only makes things worse have a good day

Not always, of course, but there are many people who do. I knew a young guy (he lives in a different city now) who was bi-polar and did a lot of different substances to feel better.

Definately!!! they take some drugs to make them go higher when they are depressed then they use alcohol when they are too high and need to come down. It's a vicious cycle that can be helped with meds.

i did for many years. when i was on that high for a week, i would drink to crash, come down. but then i start felling so bad, worthless, and guilty. that i would drink more. of course the meds would not bring relief while your drinking, its such a bullshit circle you keep going in. that sometimes you need something to keep you normal, sounds wiered i know. and yes i am an alcoholic, but not a practicing one, for a while now. my life anyway.
