to pick it up but my dog already sniffed it and im worried becuz im not sure if the rat has some kind of disease that can trasmit it to humans and dogs? Can anyone give me some advice...?

He'll be fine if he didn't eat it. The bigger concern is rat poison. All he'd need is a little bit to give him some very serious problems.

You should look around for any rat or rodent poisons. If that's what made the rat sick, and the dog happens to find it, you could have problems. Just keep an eye on your pup. I'm sure things will be fine.

sniffing alone rarely spreads disease among animals, if you're dog had bit/consumed part of the rat or the rat had bit it there would be a better chance of something being spread.

I'm sure it could be possible. I would call my vet or an emergency vet and ask them to be sure. Your dog is up to date on rabie shots,I'd hope. I hope and pray your dog will be fine.

If it just sniffed and that's all, you are probably safe.
