I am not now, but I certainly was for about 6yrs. And believe me, if you are able to, you should really try to stop now. My addiction to pain meds which started by me taking my husbands pain meds while he was terminal, turned my life upside down. I know that you probably won't think this will ever happen to you but, when I burnt all my doctors out and then my friends in the medical field refused to supply me anymore, I turned to street drugs for a short time before rehab.
In rehab was when I realized just how devastating the drugs had been to my life. ( And the detox was the worst thing i've ever been through.) So, I guess what I am saying is, just be aware of yourself and try not to lose control, and there is no shame in asking for help.

I had a small problem with xanax... not so much an addiction in the traditional sense, but it got to the point where I could not get a good nights sleep without taking xanax before bed.

I finally said to myself...damn... this is retarded. I can't do this anymore. So, I started taking half for a few days, then a quarter...then every other day & just weaned myself off.

I will NEVER go through that again.

Good luck to you!

I'm not, although a friend of mine recently came out of detox for his addiction to Tylenol 3s. He didn't realize he was addicted to them for years because he used to be a heroin and alcohol addict and was battling that. He tells me that a lot of recovering alcoholics he knows are battling the same addiction to painkillers and don't realize the seriousness of it, or feel like they're the only one with the problem.

By the way, my friend is doing great now, and I hope you're getting the help you need, cause if he can recover, so can you.

Good luck to you!

I have been taking painkillers for almost thirty yrs. now because of surgery I had on my lower back, and if i don't take them in the morning when I wake up I won't be able to get out of bed. Am I addicted to Anacin's I guess I am because they are the only pain killers that work for me, and without them I won't be able to function.

You don't have to take prescription pain killers. Over the counter pills are as effective. Doctors prescribe medication because the get kickbacks from the pharmaceutical companies. Prescription pain killers can do more damage to you than regular pills. Good luck.

I know the feeling. You do feel as if you're going crazy. Getting off of them is tough but can be done. If I did it (ha), probably anyone can. Good luck.

Millions of people are, but then the quacks and pharmaceutical companies they support are quite happy with that.

Killing pain does not need chemicals and drugs anymore, that is so out of date. Shame your druggie doctor can't prescribe it isn't it.

Good luck.
