Hi golfster. First of all, there were many political issues in the day when Jesus Christ (who was God Almighty Himself) walked the earth. And Jesus was involved in none of them. Jesus brought a message of Salvation, that one day you will stand for judgment before God. And without a sin bearer you will be sent to Hell. That one sin bearer is Jesus Christ.

And contrary to what some Televangelists are preaching on TV, God does not have a favorite political party. Its just not Biblical.

God is not sending any messages any longer. When He was done with the New Testament He was done sending Divine Revelation. God tells us this in Revelations 22:18-19:

"For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; 19 and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book."

Churches that teach that God is still communicating to us in dreams, visions, or speaking in tongues are false gospels.

I believe a person should vote. I vote. Vote for who you think is the best candidate.

I would listen and then I would wonder why bother to vote if I was following a command...he should have just been able to fix the balloting machines or miraculously change the vote count...

Oh come ON! Get real! Even though I'm not a Christian, I know that Jesus said to give to Caesar those things that are Caesar's and give to God those things that are God's. You Christians are supposed to stay free of early governments. Talk about propaganda! Right off of the Republican platform.

God wouldn't need me to vote to have the person he chooses win. He causes His purposes to be fulfilled without the "help" of man.
If He told me to vote, then it would be for my understanding of who He is to be better revealed to me. Like learning Obedience.

That being said,

Yes.

Anyone who disobeys a direct command by God is in serious trouble.

If God told me to jump, I would ask "how high?"

If God said I could go to Heaven if I just ate a lightbulb, I would ask "What wattage?"

Who in this world can resist the will of God?

but in real life I pray God will put in the candidates He wants and I try to vote for the one who in my limited understanding I think would be the better choice

1st of all, God would never tell us to vote because he told us in the bible to always remain neutral among man's affairs John 17:14-16
because we should have nothing to do with these crooked politicians.

If I was certain that it was God telling me, I would do that. The difficult part is knowing that it is from God, and not from memories of commercials or prejudice or maybe my neighbor.
