Zoloft has done wonders for my husband. I like to take St. Johns Wort (an herb) and it helps me cope a bit. If your OCD is bad Zoloft would work better.

Every person reacts differently to medications; therefore people will continue to suggest that you ask a doctor what would be most effective in your situation. There is some trial and error involved in using different medications - a medicine that works wonderfully for one person may leave another person with too many side effects or no improvement in the problem. If the same meds worked well for everyone, then it would be easy for us to give you a specific answer, but since we all react differently then the meds someone else takes may not be at all what will work for you.

I am not a medical doctor, but I do have years of study in metaphysics. I have health problems that touch on anxiety and depression. I can honestly tell you that taking just a few minutes to breathe deep does wonders.
A great technique is to take in the breathe as deep as you are able, then exhale for at least 2-3 times the length of time it took you to inhale.
For example, big deep inhale for 3 seconds, then release the entire breathe in an exhale for at least 6 seconds.
Do that at least 7 times in a row. If you are able, try to make the inhale go into the exhale without stopping to hold, as smoothly as possible. It's called circular breathing.
It allows more oxygen into your system and helps you relax.
Is it a cure all? No, but when you have nothing else, it does wonders.
I know that's not a drug, but it will help you.

I developed severe social anxiety and depression after being robbed at gunpoint. The psychiatrist I see prescribed Zoloft. It has helped me sooo much!! It less likey to become habit forming which is always a concern of mine (I was given hydrocodone when I broke my ankle- I just dealt with the pain). My friends and family can notice a huge change in my attitude and it's good for long term use (I've been on it for almost a year).
Hope you find the answer you're looking for if it's not mine- or atleast feel better. Oh and I've never dealt with OCD, but I'm sure Zoloft would help anxiety.

I have anxiety and stress problems all the time and I just try to sleep it off most of the time. My doctor told me that she can't do anything about it right now because Im pregnant but she told me that sleeping and getting enough sleep usually helps alot. Relax and take one thing at a time. Things will get better.

Paxil in combination with Klonopin work very well. However, as with any medicine, there are side effects. Paxil can cause weight gain and reduced libido. Klonopin becomes addictive. As your body gets used to it, you have to take more and more to achieve the same results. But, you have to weigh the side effects with the benefits, and only you can do that.

Any drugas and chemicals your quack prescribes should drag you down as far as you like.
I suffered anxiety attacks which had the emergency services out three times. The last one was three years ago. Go see a doctor and you will keep getting the same thing.
Quit the druggie approach for goodness sake, it is not necessary.
Take care.

i use Rescue Remedy for anxiety. Im not diagnosed or anything,.. it's just a herbal tincture you can buy from a health food store that calms you down in stressful situations or moments.
It works for my daughter too..
I believe it's a bunch of specific flower tinctures all mixed together.. it really works when I need to chillax.. but then, it could be psychosematic or something.. :)

Look dear,
I think they are best treated by the benzodiazipines e.gchlordiazipoxide [5mg tds],diazepam[2-10mg tds]&alprazolam [4mg/day]
About side effects ,I'm afraid to tell you cause you will take it seriously as if they were going to happen. No drug is free from side effects & it's not necessary that they are going to happen, but just for knowledge I'm going to tell you:
1-Amnesia ,confusion,drowsiness & sedation.
2-Ataxia & diplopia.
3-Increase appetite & weight gain.
4-allergy.
5-Apnea may follow rapid IV injection of diazepam.
6-Additive effect to alcohol & CNS depressants.
7-Addiction.with high doses over prolonged periods.
8-Agranulocytosis.
9-aggravate schizophrenia.
10-Ammenorrhia ,menstrual irregularities & failure of ovulation.
11-impairement of sexual function & failure of ejaculation.
12-teratogenic.
But as I told you these side effects rarely occur & this group is the best to treat anxiety, otherwise they wouldn't bethe most widely used anxiolytic drugs.
But to know the names of the drugs I mentioned are scientific names as I can't mention trade names or then I'll be propagating.
I wish I could help you,& if I couldn't I wish another answerer could.
