When I arrived at work today, my co-workers and I noticed the flags at half mast. I couldn't find anyone else at work who new. I live in Northern Illinois, if that makes a difference. Does anyone know why the flags are half-mast?

Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich has issued a proclamation that all state facilities fly the United States flag at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on the day of the funeral of every fallen Illinois resident serving in the U.S. Armed Forces who is killed in the line of duty.

Probably b/c of the Amish children that were murdered. It is put at half mast as a sign of mourning.

that means someone has died and putting a flag at half mast is a way of showing proper respect twoards that person

A flag is at half-mask when someone has died. Someone within your company has passed away. God bless them
