THIS IS THE TRUTH about f root canal ... the only reason it will hurt after is if the bacteria and inflammation was right down to the nerve other wise a root canal is the same as having a filling.. this is my xperience I just have done one 2 weeks ago and still is a bit tender and is cause the dentist had to go really down the root and play with the dam bone gum and god knows what else. next time I will pull out the dam tooth instead .. if the tooth is out problem solve... no more pain or discomfort

I had one on a Tuesday... the tooth and gums hurt bad for the first day, and then I had jaw pain until the following Wed. It wasn't that bad (nothing that Advil couldn't take care of) The worst part was that my lip was raw on the side they did the root canal on from the instruments rubbing on it for 3 hours. *actually the most painful part was paying the $500 on top of what the insurance covered* Hope it doesn't hurt too long.

It usually is uncomfortable for 24-48 hours after the root canal. You're looking for it to feel better and better. If by Monday it's not starting to improve, call your dentist and let them know.

See Justine's answer and in the meantime, sleep on an extra pillow to elevate your head. Sleep on the side that does NOT have a toothache. If that doesn't work, you can move to a recliner or the sofa so you can keep your head really elevated. This will minimize the blood flow to the area and therefore minimize the throbbing and pain. This might help you make it through the night until you can see a dentist.

I had 3 done at once and i was so drugged i didn't feel a thing. i just took a sleeping pill and passed out. my lips and cheek and neck were all swollen, but it didn't hurt. not sure why you're having a tough time with it. sorry about that. but if it hurts too much just call up the dentist and i'm sure he will be able to give you something stronger for the pain. have a good one:)

I had one done yesterday and today it still hurts like H, but we had a hard time figuring out which one was actually hurting me the most. She did all the sensitivity teat on all my teeth, and found two more that could be problematic. I may have to get them done next week. I'll just have to wait to see if pain goes away. The pain is in my ear, all the way to my eye. Good luck with yours. I'll let you know how it turns out.

I had two root canals and they will be my last. I had no pain after they were done, but they hurt like hell getting them done and took so long. I won't ever have another one done. So expensive and then you are suppose to have a crown put on that tooth within a year or it will crack and believe me they do, I lost half the tooth. But crowns cost as much as root canals.
