*Quality, pet Great Danes are usually priced between $400 and $800 as a general guide, although there are some exceptions to this. Show quality Great Danes can be priced as high as $2500 and more, in some cases.
*The food need not be expensive. Based on the ingredients that we use and by feeding at the ratio of 2 parts meat to 1 part meal - each pound of prepared food should cost no more than .30p - by shopping around and/or buying in bulk, a fully-grown adult ***** can be maintained for less than £1.00 per day.
*"As far as cost, you can expect to spend up to $400 a month on your pet for food, training, and other expenses — especially in the first six months, when you'll be buying supplies and going to the vet more often. Buying a dog or cat can set you back anywhere from $100 to $200 for a shelter animal to $2,000 or more for a purebred (plus extra costs for spaying or neutering, vaccinations, and microchip identification)."

Let's put a few numbers to this. If a pet costs $400 per month and lives for 10 years, that's $48,000 (not to mention what you could have earned on that money if you had invested it). If the pet lives for 15 years, that's $72,000!!! Even if the pet only costs $200 per month, that adds up to $36,000 over 15 years.

If you want a pedigreed Great Dane, you will look at anywhere from $800 and up. If you don't mind the lack of a pedigree, you can get a rescue dog for much less if you promise to give it a good home. The problems start after you get the monster home. Food is expensive, and Great Danes eat lots of food. The bigger the dog, the shorter the lifespan, so a five year old rescued Great Dane will only probably last another three years.

Great Danes from a responsible breeder don't cost any more then any other breed of dog that is well bred and from a responsible breeder.
As for feeding Danes aren't all that expensive to feed if they are being fed a good quality food. Spay/neuter can be a little more expensive as can Heartworm preventative and Frontline but routine exams and vaccinations aren't any more. They really aren't as expensive as people think they are, nor do they eat as much as most people think.

the cost of buying a great dane can vary from zero to hundreds of dollars depending on whether they are pedigreed or not. The biggest cost with great danes is their food since they eat a lot!

Yes, they do cost alot of money. I bought a puppie dane for about $350 and then later saw so going for about $750. They are great dogs but very difficult to have sometimes. If you rent, it's near impossible to find a rentor to let you move in and they can be very high maintainence. I love them but would not recommend one to everybody.

It all depends on where you live and whether you get registered or not. My sister breeds Danes and she sells hers for $250-$400, depending on gender, color, disposition, etc. I have seen Danes going for as much as $1500 a puppy before though.

The puppies can be expensive. If you rescue one from a shelter it's cheaper.
Food bills may be larger than, say, a maltese, but they make fantastic pets. So gentle, so funny.
As long as you can get them the exersize they need, go for it.

They can be if they are registered. Try checking and animal rescue. Sometimes they have them for specific types of breeds like greyhounds.
