The laws (rules, regulations or doctrine,) of your gods and your church are the ultimate last resort for your decisions concerning your spiritual well being.
if you agree with this statement, then why would it matter to what the laws of man or a country say. because in your personell life the laws that you believe in through your religion are the higher laws to follow right?
so with that said why do so many people feel the need to protest any law or action that does not agree with the laws of their church or religion. after all what i do really does not effect you so if i decide to marry a gay man or support a friend in an abortion what does it really matter to you? you have done nothing wrong. it is my soul that is on the line. so what do the laws of man and country really have to do with religion?

to address a few comments here.
first off i am straight and married to a woman. the wording of my question was if i choose to marry a man or to support a friend in an abortion what does it matter to you.
heterosexual people get AIDS too. it is not just a gay thing.
i did not ask about the repercussions in my life of the life of my friends. i asked
What Is It To You?
why do you wish to change the laws of man to fit the spiritual laws of your religion?
this seems like a huge waste of time because your personell laws are already established.

Wow, this is a really good question, and you are right to ask it. I am a Bible-believing Christian and I totally agree with you. The thing is, though I do not condone or believe in homosexuality or abortion (or any other sin, for that matter), it is for GOD to judge, not me. And, when Christ came, He said his kingdom is NOT of this world, so I don't really understand why so many Christians seem to think this country or world we live in ought to conform to Christian beliefs. We (Christians) are to be sojourners in this world, because this is not our home. Why should we then expect for the rest of the world to conform to our beliefs or be surprised when they don't? Christians ought to be loving our neighbor, in order to show him the gospel, not trying to force him to change by changing our laws.
Anyway, the above-mentioned sins are not any bigger or more heinous than the sins that I have committed or that I commit every day--they are all hateful in God's eyes, which is why He sent his Son, to restore the sinner to union with Himself!

Well to believers Gods will is our FIRST resort and hopefully not our last.
I see what youre saying and so by that logic we should just throw our hands in the air and let society get as evil as possible and implode? That liberal thinking just inst practical because youre assuming we all live our own completely and utterly separate lives and that shouldnt be and isnt the case most of the time. People look to other people for what to do and what direction to take in life and draw examples from our communities.
If I do drugs for my daughter to see, Im not just living my own little merry life and having nothing to do with anyone else. She is learning from my example! If I kick back and ignore our leaders as they pass laws that kill unborn babies, destroy the institution of marriage, and create immorality, then I am guilty of indifference to my fellow man!
I have the duty as being a Christian to testify what the world does is evil. I have a duty as an American to help make this country the best it can be economically, spiritually, morally, not to mention help keep it safe! I dont figure the best way to do that is let society decay while I turn a blind eye. I love this country, I love Jesus, and I love you too and hope you get saved!

Well, if you're a christian, which I am, it matters because the Bible does say to obey the laws of the land. If abortion is legal, then the law is saying it is okay to commit murder which goes against God's laws. Is it forgiveable? Yes, but that fact doesn't matter when you look at what the decision does to the person and their loved ones. As far as marrying a gay man, well, that's a perversion of sex by satin. Sex was created as form of worship to God to show him how much we enjoy the gift of marriage, but the marriage is biblically between man and woman, because that was God's design, Satin is lying to these people who think they were born this way. I have seen Gay people set free from this oppression. As for why do we care what you do, well for one we are trying to protect God's laws. But most christians have lost the number one law, and that is to love people right where they are at and in their situation. God loves his people more than he hates the sin. He wants everyone to have a personal relationship with him, so that when we leave this "world" and move onto our real home in heaven we will be with him and not separated from him. If you don't have a relationship with him on earth then you are living separated from him, and if that is the case then you are choosing to live separated from him when this life ends, and your real life is supposed to begin. And it's not about rules and regulations it's about living in freedom. knowing that life can be just as exciting without all the twisted perversions of it. But if you haven't ask Jesus into your heart, then you will have a hard time making, and knowing which decisions are right for you and which are not. And what you do does affect me, because it affects my Jesus. While he is out there trying to reach you and love you and bring you home, he is sad and constantly chasing you, and that makes me sad to know that my Jesus' heart is aching after his lost child. Just like he ached after me, when I was lost. God has given a purpose to those who really seek him, and that purpose is to #1 have a relationship with him and #2 spread the news of how great and wonderful he is. Helping people accept Jesus and understand that he loves you first and formost more than you can ever know.

You can cry a river about Homosexual all you want too, my friend.
It's NOT just Christians that vote in this country. Did you know that?
Appears the general public is against it. The general public is not Christian.
I would not vote for gay Rights on a moon lit night. I'm not saying this based on religion.
Church or no Church, Gay Rights are out.
We'll see if the general population agrees.
.
Ever hear of AIDS? I think you have a common feeling among the public, then.
.
Do you agree? I don't care. I'm a voter. I can't be wrong. I vote the way I want to. Thats the cool part.

It's a lot like going out for a walk on a nice day, and stepping into a pile of dog ****, or dumping raw sewage into a city water supply.
All the abominations you mention befoul the whole world, and affect everyone.
Laws regulating destructive and irresponsible behavior are legitimate and useful.
People used to understand the reasons for them, before the educational system went down the tubes.

Generally speaking Christians think if the laws of the land were the laws of God that it would be eaisier for people to accept the Gospel.
I dissagree with this. I believe the only thing God send people to Hell for is not accepting him (the only unforgivable sin), regardless of their behavior.
But when it comes to abortion, that's a life as far as I'm concerned and therefore one of the few things worth protecting?

I break as many of the laws of the bible and the koran as I can. But I love my country and respect the laws of it. If there is a law that I don't agree with, then I'll petition for it to be changed. It takes time but that actually does work.

God commands us to obey the laws of the land as long as it don't go against the Bible. Everything we do affects others. Even generations to come. Look at Adam & Eve. Because of their choices the world has to suffer. God wants us to be obedient, and we can influence others by doing what He says through His love letters to us. If we are obedient unto Christ, and share with others and do what is right, and fight for what is right. We are just as guilty if we don't speak up to what is wrong. Sin will run rampant more if we keep our mouths quiet.

If you feel compelled to marry the same sex then do it. I just do not feel the need to hear all of the details of your sexual exploits in the coffee room. I know several homosexual people who are very good friends of mine but we keep our sex lives out of the conversation. Whether or not they burn in Hell is going to be between them and God. Jesus said love the sinner not the sin. So while I disagree with their lifestyle, I do not openly say derogatory things to them about it because it is only one facet of the many facets that make up the whole person that I like to be around.

You are right! (I'm a Christian, too.) There is a little problem with your examples, though. Both of them are going to hurt other people. Your friend with the abortion is going to be sorry and you with the gay husband are at risk for AIDS, and that is So Expensive, even if you don't mind dying, somebody loves you and will be sad.
